We might wait to go to MK until later in the afternoon on our day of arrival, and spend some time exploring other areas of Disney beforehand (we have a full day at MK later in the trip, including morning EMH so we thought maybe we would go there after lunch and see the parade and go for our ADR at LTT).

We are staying at Pop Century. I know the food court there is an obvious option, but I am wondering if there is a different counter service restaurant worth trying since we will be able to drive anywhere we want. Is there someplace you would recommend at Downtown Disney or the Boardwalk area? We are on the regular DDP so we need CS for lunch that day and not TS, as we are doing TS for dinner at LTT! LOL, I was actually considering paying OOP for a huge sundae at Ghirardelli's instead of a lunch meal...but that would not be a good lesson for my sons!! :rotfl2: Though it is tempting...we are opting for a CS lunch instead!!

Earl of Sandwich. We thought it was terrific!

Since you are driving consider visting one of the Moderate resorts. We enjoyed the food court at CBR and many say the resort itself is one of the best themed in Disney. Generally speaking the Mods and Values will offer better CS experiences than the Deluxes.

We ate CS in MK, Epcot and at CBR. In Downtown Disney we stopped in McDonald's as our destination was Lego, McDonald's is right next door and a 6yo was driving our restaurant selection. The good news is he ate very well there! I simply stole a few fries and ate later in MK. :thumbsup2

It's closed for remodel right now, but my vote is for wolfgang puck's express in DTD. The food is great! The best pizza in WDW

I second the recommendation for Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD. One of our favorite meals!

Wolfgang Pucks Express in the Market Place at DTD gets my vote or maybe Cookes of Dublin in DTD, (fish and chips and fried snickers bar=YUM!)

I vote for Ghirardelli's, tell your sons it's an exception because of Disney ;) besides, you have a "real" sit down dinner planned that should cover all the food groups. If you still insist on being responsible then the earl of Sandwich get's a second vote from me.

In downtown Disney you can't go wrong with Wolfgang Puck Express or Earl of Sandwich.

Our FAVORITE is at CSR. It's AWESOME! Such a variety and the plus is that you eat out of regular plates with silverware. Yes ! You will LOVE IT !

While I would NEVER do this at home (or at least fess up to it ;) ) I vote for this option!! I am all about vacation splurges/indulgences and this is a great one!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest something a bit different. I suggest The Mara at AKL. It's a great CS restaurant and most importantly, it's alot of fun to explore the grounds of AKL! Lots of great animals to view at three different savannahs and extremely relaxing.

The Mara itself has alot of yummy food options. I heard a rumor that they still sell chicken strips (despite the changes to nuggets in the parks) and if so, these are highly recommended! They also sell salads, sandwiches, flatbread pizza, hummus and yummy stuff from Boma.

Just thought I'd throw it out there, in case you were looking to do something a bit different and you like animals.

My other suggestion is Captain Cooks over at the Polynesian. Poly grounds are so pretty and festive (we loved the beach!) AND Captain Cooks sells Dole Whips!!:lovestruc

Have fun with whatever you choose!!

I haven't been to the Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD but have been to one in NJ and it's awesome. The food quality is much better than what you would expect from a CS restaurant. Try the Chinois Chicken Salad.

We stayed at CSR last year and you can get great bargains at Pepper Market, even steak!

Wolf Gang Puck Express in DTD is really good!!! We also liked Earl Of Sandwich too!!! IMO you can't go wrong at either one:thumbsup2
