I'm taking 10 teenagers (15-18) to London in March. I need suggestions for inexpensive but good places to feed them while in London. I'd like them to be exposed to the local culture and cuisine, so we'll avoid McDonald's and places like it. We'll be staying at the Strand Palace if that helps.

Thank you!

Some of my favorites from my college trip in 1997 (they are all still there):

Pret a Manger -- sandwich shop (chain), very good and reasonable to grab and go for a picnic. www.pretamanger.com

Wagamama-- fun noodle restaurant. www.wagamama.com

Food for Thought-- Vegetarian in Covent Garden.

A friend suggested Yo! Sushi-- has a sushi conveyor belt (with some cooked alternatives for the less adventurous). www.yosushi.com

Have a great trip! Wish I was going!

Chiquitas in Leicester Square is a fun place - Mexican food. Though I have to say that the service when I went for lunch a week or so back was appalling.

Garfunkles is a reasonable place to eat too - they are all over the place.

If you go into SoHo there are some great little Chinese restaurants there which serve fab food.

You then have got the Hard Rock Cafe at the end of Piccadilly which is great. Or venture into Covent Garden where there are loads of one off nice restaurants.

HTH.

Don't forget to try some Fish and Chips. Very cheap, and very authentic. (and delicious)

If you did want to give an Indian Restaurant a go the best place to head for is Brick Lane in the East End of London.
