I've finally talked my DB's family into joining us at WDW for a week in early June, staying with us at DVC. I'm trying to plan some PS's. We have four adults, a boy 16, girl 14, and girl 12. DH, DD 14 and I enjoy the nicer restaurants at WDW and are fairly adventurous, but we've been many times so we're looking to cater to DB's family. Their DS is interested in quantity and is fairly adventurous, their DD likes to try new things too. Actually, they all like Asian, Thai, etc., but also a good steak.

Here's the problem. My DB asked his wife "they're not going to make us go to a lot of fancy restaurants, are they?" I guess if he has to wait to be seated or for food to come out, he gets quite impatient. Thinks it's a waste of time. Aside from the fact that I think he will actually be greatful for the air conditioned rest breaks, I am buying a DDE for this trip. But I only have a few PS's in place, and with 7 of us, I need to finalize. Here's what we have based on our touring plans, and need:

1st night: dinner in Epcot (suggestions please! We don't care for Alfredos, Biergarten, and Japan doesn't accept DDE. We are also from NM, so I think Mexico is out.)

2nd night: Prime Time Cafe, just because I think they would enjoy it.

3rd night: DTD. Kids will go to DQ, I'd really like to go to Wolfgang Puck Cafe, DH LOVES sashimi tuna salad. Is it a slow place?

4th night: no plans. We might go to AK evening EMH and eat at counter service, or eat in the villa.

5th night: O'Hana prior to MK evening EMH. I think this will be OK. They start feeding you right away, right?

6th night: PS at Le Cellier. Not sure about this one, alternate suggestions considered!

Thanks in advance!

Well, a buffet would be good for him- he can get his dinner whenever he wants. Might not be considered "fine dining", though. In Epcot, you'd pretty much be stuck with Biergarten. Garden Grill might be pretty quick, since the food is served family-style, and everyone gets the same thing.

The only other suggestion I could give would be to try places that feature some sort of distraction- either really cool theming, a show, characters (if he's into that) or something like that. Then your DB might not mind that his food takes a while to get to him. I know you said Mexico might not be for you, but he could go out and look around at the rest of the pavillion while he is waiting- he could even ride El Rio del Tiempo!

Good luck! :flower3:

Another buffet suggestion for your Epcot dinner is the Cape May Cafe at the YC. Just walk through the International Gateway between England and France and you'll be there in a few minutes. It's a 'clambake' with seafood and many other non-seafood options. This is my favorite buffet at WDW.

I seem to remember in Jan that they bring out the bread right away followed by the appetizers, you could probably quietly explain your situation to try and insure this. Cape May is an excellent buffet. Le celleir the steaks are really good and you get bread sticks to snack on before the appetizer or dinner comes out. One additional sugestion would be to make your PS for when the restaurant first opens for dinner (usually no waiting) or a little later than normal dinner hours when you might have a little wait even with PSs.

Good point on early dining. As it happens, all of the PS I was able to get are early, around 5:30, due to our party size. Cape May is a good suggestion, we will be staying at BWV or maybe BCV if our waitlist comes through.

Hollywood and Vine have a great buffet for everyone and a great dessert station.....food is not bad either.....

do you have to do family togetherness at every meal?

Why not schedule one evening where you, your DH and any family members who enjoy a leisurely sit-down meal get to do so, and send him off to chuck e. cheese or someplace? then GO to Le Cellier, or California Grill, or Jiko or Artist Point, relax and meet up later.

Otherwise for Epcot, you might also consider Coral Reef. Get there when it opens for dinner, snag a seat by the fish, give him crayons, and tell him to identify the fish.

Another suggestion--I have a colleague who has never been diagnosed ADHD, but can be very disruptive in meetings. Since he got his Palm and downloaded Bejeweled, he is a different kind of guy :jumping1:

That's funny, Erinch. DSIL told me that DB is likely to pick up a magazine, which is fine with me! Separating is a good suggestion, but I don't think the cousins will go along with it. Unless they're acting more like siblings, we might insist. Kind of funny, I had suggested they might want to do some touring on their own and got a kind of panic attack from DSIL. I guess WDW is a big, scary place if you haven't been there.

I think we might send DB and nephew off to ESPN one night though. Let them get that out of their system.

on night 3 definitely send DB to DQ with the kids, and you enjoy Wolfgang Pucks.
