So I seriously need to cut down on my Dessert Party. Does anyone know if the minimum for 2009 is $22 or $28???

I need to stick to the minimum because my Dessert Party is way too much $$$. I'm doing chopping to my BEO and this is one area that I need to cut back on. What's really getting me is the extra $12.50 charge now for IllumiNations viewing, I didn't have that budgeted for when my Dessert party was the day before.

Can you please post your Dessert Party Menu's & the amount you paid per person? I'm mainly looking for Menu's $30 & under. Or if anyone knows of any threads with Dessert Party Breakdowns or Menu's, that would be totally helpful too!

Thanks!

The minimum is $22-

My (oops, our) food is $23 pp. We're doing:

Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie treats
Chocolate Fudge Brownies
Cheesecake
Fruit Tarts

We have 20 people. We're doing BOC beer and wine and the one thing we're really adding on that's a bit more $ is.....Grand Marnier Slushies. They are going to be our signature drink and they are $13 pp. I have already told everyone they have to have at least one!:rotfl:

You can definitely do DP for cheaper than $30!! I'm sure many more will be posting shortly! :goodvibes

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the viewing fee is $12.95/person. :guilty: But at least, as Lorelai pointed out, the food and beverage minimum is only $22/person! :)

All you have to do is tell your planner you only want to spend $22/person, and s/he can help you customize the menu by removing things or swapping in cheaper alternatives. Just look at the Epcot DP menus s/he gave you and select the individual items you want to have priced out. :thumbsup2

Thanks Carrie, I did know that already, so not really new bad news, LOL!

That's great to hear It's only $22 per person, cause right now I'm at $35 a person and that Menu is getting CHOPPED!

The reason why I'm asking for Menu's under $30 is because my Menu is only the Fondue, Cheesecake Lollipops, Chocolate Truffle Lollipops (which are incorrectly listed as Chocolate Truffles instead of Lollipops) & Peanut Butter Marshmellow Bars.

Now it might be the Fondue kicking it up, so it might be just Fondue or switch to a Menu of only 4-5 items. I'm trying to get ideas of what I should pick! I'm having a hard time with this menu!

I used the "petite classic" DP menu and changed a few things. Mine only came down to $27 a person though so not much under your $30

We had
Cheesecake
Chocolate Eclair
Chocolate Fudge Brownie
Chocolate Chip Cookies - we added these
Mickey Rice Krispie Treats- we added these as well
Cream Horns
Fruit Tarts
Tiramisu

You could try re-creating the discontinued "For the Child In You" menu, which was $19.50/person, and adding one more item:

Florida Lemon Bars
Double Chocolate Brownies
Large Chocolate Chunk Cookies
Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Sugar Cookies
Chewy Rice Crispy Treats
Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares
Coffee, Decaf, Hot Tea, Fruit Punch

Here is our custom one and it is only $22 a person.

Chocolate and Caramel Brownies
Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares
Miniature Cheesecakes, Chocolate Eclairs, Tiramisu, and Cream Horns

We picked stuff off of a couple of menus that we liked and then added the squares per advice that they were better than the cookies we originally had on there.

I say just pick and choose what you like and then cut what you can live without until you get to $22.

Our menu was at $32 per person but then I played around with it.

Everyone kept raving about the Choc peanutbutter marshmallow squares so I thought what can I take out to add those in.

I originally had choc chip cookies, sugar cookies and rice chrispy treats on the menu. I removed those and added in the squares.

When my planner told me that it was $22 a person, I did a little dance. :cool1:

Just play around with the menu and you will get it to the price you need and still have plenty.

Yes, but these items are all from menus that are OVER $22 pp, so I'm really surprised you got them - plus brownies and squares - for $22 pp.

I have three items from the $22 pp menu, one from the $24 pp menu, one from $26 pp and one from $28 pp, so I'm glad I got what I wanted for $25 pp.

But - to get four items from a more expensive menu and still pay $22 is really scoring. ;)

Wow, I never looked at it that way. I do know that sometimes cutting out one thing can change the price drastically. Before we had the $32 menu, we had creme brulee on there as well and it was $41. We cut the creme brulee and it dropped to $32. I think cutting the rice crispy treats really helped with the price dropping and the cookies were probably nominal.

Where do I find the menu and prices for the DP? I was thinking of doing this for our VR but that will not be until 2011.
(I know prices will change by then but was just playing with idea at this time).

TIA

We're having the "petit classics" too like PirateBride. Ours is $28 per person because we added plain cannolis. Ours is:

Mickey Shaped Rice Crispy Treats
Cheesecake
Chocolate Eclair
Plain cannoli
Chocolate Fudge Brownies
Linzer Diamonds
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Fruit tart
Fruit punch, hot coffees, teas (served with flavored syrups and sticks, sugars, cream and honey

In the original "petit classics" menu, the cannolis are pistachio (although I don't know about now) and there is tiramisu instead of choc chip cookies.

What kept getting us is the 21% gratuity and 6.5% tax added on to food/beverage (yes, the gratuity is taxed). So you really have to take the total "base" price for all your guests, add the gratuity and taxes THEN divide by the number of guests...that'll give you your true per person price.

I hope I didn't rain on anyone's parade...although it'd definitely better to budget things like that up front rather than finding out later. HTH! :)

Yeah Stitch Bride - that's what got me! My pp is $35 but add on the the Gratiuty & tax, plus the Viewing fee, and it the same amount of my wedding dinner!
