I found a couple of places that have two bedroom suites, both were Affinia properties. I also for Envoy Club which seems to be a hybrid hotel/ private condo rentals.

Does anyone know of any other places that could accomodate 5 people, AND it's under $450/night, pref under $400. It's my sis and mom's first time to NYC so they want to stay in the middle of it all, and not across the river or upper East side, etc. :rolleyes1 If it's not under $400, we're probably just better off getting two rooms which we're having no trouble finding for around $250. (Mom and sis snore. Loud. :sad2:)

Any TA's here who know of some of the hybrid private hotels that might be reasonably priced and have 2 brdm suites or even a 1 bdrm with 2 beds and a pullout sofa?

This would probably only help with the two rooms. But I got Club Quarters on "name your own price" on Priceline for $115 a night. The rooms are very small - normal for the city - however fantastically set up. I had a desk/work area - microwave/small fridge.

I loved it.

I was in the Wall Street location but they do have a midtown location.

Good luck!!

I'm sorry. I just reread. Five woudn't work for two rooms there - very small. Maybe they have some larger suites - not sure. :confused3 But they won't come up on "name your own price" - maybe expedia.

Anyway they are a business boutique hotel. So they have everything one would need.

But it's a good choice for visitors. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

You might try the Manhattan Club - with some kind of exchange - on a timeshare board.

I'd check the Grand Hyatt by grand central station - the rate for a room with 2 double beds is 350-375 and you can get a rollaway.

We have stayed at club quarters but the largest suite the midtown location has is teeny tiny..one queen bed and barely enough room for a rollaway.

You can also look at the kimpton hotels - I'm staying at one when I move next week and I think the rate is 200 something and we have 2 double beds. It might be a triple A or AARP rate.

A friend of mine got a great deal at the Doubletree Suites in Times Square last April. I think it was right around $400 a night. If you would want 2 rooms we have stayed at the Econolodge Times Square for under $200 a night. The rooms are small, but very clean and a close walk to everything, they also have free continental breakfast.

you may want to try the Embassy Suites that is downtown~you can request a two room suite with two double beds and there is a sleeper sofa in the living room

the breakfast is a buffet and quite good

you can check out the rates online and they also offer AAA discounts

I just stayed at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square about 6 weeks ago. I got at AAA rate of $181 per night. The rooms were decent sized (not tiny like some other hotels) with 2 Queen beds. I thought it was an excellent location and the hotel was nice and clean.

These are all great suggestions - thank you! Sadly, most of them are either booked solid for my dates or the season price has jumped way up. The Marriott Marquis sounded wonderful but my rate would be $449! :scared1:

Radio City Apartments would have been PERFECT at $395 for a 2 bdrm (bites fist..) but they are sold out of all rooms.

Anyone else with a suggestion please chime in... I'm chasing every one of them down to see if it's a fit. Thanks!

Your best bet is to get two rooms. We are a family of five and have the hardest time finding a room in NYC. Last time we stayed at the Affinia on East 34th. It was overpriced for the location and amenities. I would rather get two rooms than stay there again.

I don't know what your dates are but I get great rates on travelzoo. If you are going around the holidays you won't get good rates for midtown. We are going the first week of December and I'm using Priority Club points plus cash for our rooms. I think it is 15,000 points plus $60 a night for the Crowne Plaza on Broadway.

Good luck!

Just stayed in that Embassy Suites a couple of weeks ago - it was midweek, for one night. Two adults, three kids for $189/AAA. Included cooked to order breakfast and evening reception with two cocktails per adult. It is in the financial district (which is not midtown, but looks out on the river and the world trade center area). Ten minute walk to subway to midtown (takes about 10 minutes). The rate was more expensive when I first booked, but when I checked it the night before we checked in, it had gone down by $40, so they lowered it for me!

Two beds, queen size sofabed, microwave, sink and free fridge on request. Parking was $35 offsite - validated. I can't rave enough about it!

Try the Marriott Courtyard Manhattan Midtown East.

We are a family of 5 and have stayed here a couple of times. The hotel rooms are very big by NY standards.

We stayed here in July for something like $134 a night (AAA).

The room had 2 queen beds..not doubles and a double pull out sofa bed. They also gave us a small fridge for no extra charge.

It is rated very highly on TripAdvisor and the ratings are well deserved. One of the best deals going in NYC.

Have a great trip!

The Doubletree Times Square would be VERY tight for 4 adults and 1 teen. The bedroom is small and my Ds were convinced that the two beds were smaller than doubles.

Radio City Apartments would have been PERFECT at $395 for a 2 bdrm (bites fist..) but they are sold out of all rooms.

I had to check the tripadvisor forums to remind me what this website was but you might want to check this link out...sometimes when you can't get a room with Radio City Apartments directly you can get a room through this site. If you have any concerns about it's validity do a search on the TA forums...it's been a while but I just remember it being mentioned often when I was trying to plan a trip to NYC last year.

Woo hoooo!!! I called Envoy Club about availability for their 2 bdrm apt suite on my dates (their website reservations showed unavailable) and they had it!!:banana::banana:

Best of all, it was only $319!!!:dance3::yay: Their web price showed $349 - - no idea how I lucked into a lower rate! For a 2 bedroom (one king, two twins) apartment with a living room with sofa (queen pullout bed) and chair, plus a kitchen! I feel like I won the lottery!

Now I just hope the rooms are as nice as pictured!:thumbsup2
