I have several pics of the the castle from October and most of them have the crane in them. What can I use to remove the crane? Also, I have a couple of pics where I would love to remove a person's head or a group of people in general. I looked at one site and it said I needed 3 pics of the same object and at least one of the three needs to look like what I want the rest to look like. Anyone have any ideas?

The crane should be fairly easy to remove using the close function of photoshop. Just us the clone function on the smallest brush setting, and clone as close as possible to the object you want removed so the background color matches as much as possible. It will be a little time consuming, though.

I use microsoft digital image pro 9, and there's a smart erase function that nicely erases unwanted things from photos. It works really well.

Cass, what program do you use?

Hi there, I have a few programs I use, mostly Ulead or Adobe

Copy this post to the Photography board and you will have plenty of people willing to help out! :)

As for me, I use Photoshop (Elements is good too).

You could do what I did, and have fun buying and learning to use photo editing software. I use Corel Paint Shop Pro X.

Here is the "before..."

I wanted to remove the extraneous people. When my wife looked at another photo we had of that archway, she noticed there was a wall sconce on the archway, which in the above photo is obscured by the woman's head. I copied it from the other photo, and then weaved it into the final product ...

BEFORE ... [look closely for a wire coming down from the top on the left side, and follow it down to a "cage" holding painters.

AFTER ...

Not a great photo by any stretch of the imagination, just an example of removing unwanted stuff.

Wow !! That is really nice work! Do you mind if I ask, is Corel PAint terribly expensive/hard to use? I have one photo that I am dying to "fix" ( a person in the pic is SO distracting you barely even notice my son. But it is such a great pic of him - he's having so much FUN in a water spout fountain!:) I want to frame it with a similar one of his brother...but w/out THAT person.

You could have fixed your son's missing tooth while you were at it :)

It was about $150.

I'm no computer whiz. It's been a challenge, but it's been fun, too. The MGM pic took me a total of about 4 or 5 hours.

I was just kidding, kids are always cuter with missing teeth!

sbpuckett, I just sent you your 4 photos, the crane is gone and I removed some people on the one with the statue. Hope they are okay :)
