Hello!

This is my first time posting on this board. I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I was wondering if anyone can help me. I'm trying to start a tradition by making the woman in my family a small craft for the holidays. One year I did the "Brownies in a Jar" and the next year I made Quilted Ornaments. Sadly the quilted ornaments were such a hit, that I'm at a complete lose to what I should do for this year. Anyone have any great ideas they would like to share?! :worship: TIA!

Check out some of our posts on Paint buckets or slide necklaces. Those are the trendy things we are doing on the craft boards this year. I'm not sure if the search engine is working yet.

Or I know cigar box purses are popular too right now. I have not ventured there yet but I know there is a thread on that too.

I tried posting earlier, but IE crashed on me. :(

DD & I made ornaments that were very easy, but very pretty. It was one of Michael's craft sheets 2 yrs ago. We got the clear glass balls & acrylic paint: white, red & gold. Basically, you dribble a bit inside the ball & let it run down to the bottom. You do each color a couple times & turn the ball on its other axis so that the paint swirls.

I'll see if I have the instructions around. They were specific about the type of paint. DD's youth group did them, but they had the wrong paint & they never dried.

We also did some that looked like animal prints. Those became a neat reminder of our trip to AKL. I know I have those instructions on the hard drive.

Depending on how many you need to make and how much time you have, beaded Christmas trees. Once you get the hang of it, you need about 2 hrs for each tree. The average cost is $15. There are also the no sew fleece blankets, this is alittle more cost wise...all depends on whether you find the fleece on sale or not (average cost is $25).

These are all great ideas, but I found out on the tech board that the search is not functioning yet. Can someone help me with directions or links on how to make these crafts? TIA!

Which ones? I may have some links in my Favorites...

Thanks for your help. First, I was wondering if you found the instructions for the ornaments. Second, I also like the paint buckets, slide necklaces and beaded Christmas trees but have no idea how to make them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry - I missed your message yesterday. I sent you an email via The DIS.

Just remember if you decide to do the "Marbelous Ornaments" that you really need to use the paint brand recommended - Ceramcoat. Others don't dry as well & ended up being nessy.

Thank you so much for your help. I'm having problems with my e:mail right now. Think it would be possible to copy it to a pm? If it's a problem, I understand. Thanks!

I'm trying to find the directions again. Sending DIS email doesn't let me keep a copy, so I can't just re-read what I sent. I don't have the paint bucket instructions/pages saved as I didn't think I'd do those. I'll PM with what I have.
