I am a goon when it comes to computers. I can log onto sites like DisBoards and Tropicana and Pamapers Gifts to Grow at work, but from my home computer I can't. I enter my name and password and it goes back to the previous screen and I am not logged in. Oddly, I can log into my Yahoo email from home. I figure I have some setting on my home computer fouling me up. Any ideas what to do?

Only thing I can think that would cause that is that you may have the box checked that says, "Keep me logged in." If you do that when logging in from one computer, the site will not allow you to log in from another computer.

That is incorrect.

The "keep me logged in" checkbox just saves your login information on your computer. The website doesn't care where you login from or how many computers you use. I always have that set and I visit the Disboards from 3 different computers on a regular basis.

I was thinking maybe something to do with cookies being turned off, but I don't believe that would prevent you from logging in. My guess is it's something in your internet explorer security/privacy settings that has to do with allowing a website to run scripts or something. But I'm not really sure.

I'm assuming you are using Internet Explorer, so you could try going to Tools-> Options, clicking the Privacy tab and putting the setting on Medium or Low if it's not already there.

Yes, it is via Explorer. I will give this a shot when I get home.

What Mill said. And click the box where it says, "Keep Me Logged In" or "Remember Me" and it'll keep you logged in until you log out. Just don't do that on sites such as Ebay on public computers or those that are shared with people you don't know well or trust.

If I keep logged in on Yahoo mail and attempt to log in from my phone, it says my password is incorrect. I checked on a website that allows you to ask questions about that sort of thing and was told the same thing I told you. When I unchecked the box on my home computer, I had no further problem logging in on my phone.
So, if what the other people told you to try does not work. Try what I said. Can't hurt.

This EXACT thing is happening to me!! And it just started, so I haven't changed any of my privacy settings at home. I try to log in, I get the "Thank you for logging in" page, and then voila, it logs me out.

This happens only on my desktop with Vista and Internet Explorer. I can get on fine from my laptop, which has Ubuntu and Firefox.

At work, I do NOT stay logged in (in fact, I get randomly logged out at work very often. I just posted in another thread and had to log in again to post here) but at least I *can* log in.

(and I'm on my lunch break, for the record :goodvibes)

Not sure why you are having that issue. I've seen it with Yahoo Messenger, but not Yahoo mail.

I just opened Yahoo mail on my PC to make sure that it was still set to keep me logged in, then I opened Yahoo mail on my blackberry with no issues at all.

The Disboards definitely doesn't care if you are logged in from multiple computers.

I'm not saying this is the reason, but it is at least possible that your security settings changed due to an automatic update.

Well, wonder of wonders, I just logged in at home, no problems. Maybe it was something with the board update?

Anyway, I checked my settings and everything was the same - cookies allowed, medium security, so who knows. I'm just happy to be able to post from home again! I like a side of DIS with my breakfast - lol. :surfweb:

I hope the OP can log on now too!

You're right. I don't have any trouble with the Dis, either.
