Family has asked me to get a medical alert type company for my grandmother. Does anyone have any recommendations or personal experiences with them? I've looked at Lifeline and Life Alert. No clear cut pros or cons on either one. :confused3

Thanks

We use Medic Alert for my son. He has anaphylactic food allergies, asthma, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis so he has quite the complex medical history and medications. Medic Alert is the authentic company. I have heard from Dr.'s that it is the gold standard so to say. We have never actually used their service, as in having an emergency and emergency responders having to call the number, but their customer service is outstanding. He has been a member since 2004 when he was a year old, and every time we have to call about changing information in his record or ordering new bracelets we are able to quickly speak with an operator. Definetly go with them.:thumbsup2

We also use Medic Alert. DS11 has a bleeding disorder. He wears the bracelet. So far we have not needed their services but they are there for the emergencies should they arise. Their Customer service is outstanding.

Definitely check them out.

are you looking for the response type? (like "i've fallen and i can't get up").

if so lifeline worked well for a family member-it was set up with her local hospital which would have been where she would have been transported in an emergency so they had all her medical records on hand and were aware of all her medical issues (and allergies).

there was a transmittor in her living room that she could use, that also served as a two way radio-she also had the necklace thing she could use if she was away from the master unit (it had a button that would activate the master unit to send a call to lifeline). if the person lived in a larger living space it would probably be advisable to get more than one master unit, but in the case of a one bedroom apartment, if the door to the bedroom or bathroom were open and the necklace control was activated the transmittor both sent and received sound fine (and if a person activated but did'nt respond when lifeline tried to contact them, it was an immediate 911 response).

charge was'nt much per month-and if you check with the hospital the person uses (if it's local to them) they may have a rep. in house (when we returned the equipment it was to the local hospital).
