I have an anise cookie recipe, you
may be able to shape it into a loaf.
This is a very common recipe (in fact I have several versions, all tasty) in my recipe box~
Of course, this may not work
FOR THE COOKIES:
1 cup butter (no substitution), softened
1 cup sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla ( try 1/2 anise/ 1/2 vanilla)
4 cups all-purpose flour
FOR THE ANISE ICING:
2 cups sifted powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon anise extract
Party sugar or demarara sugar for topping (optional)
Can tint icing w/food colors--pastels are nice
Heat oven to 350 Degrees F.
Beat butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.
Add sugar and beat until creamed.
Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Add BP to flour.
Slowly add in as much of the flour as you can to the wet ingredients. Unless you have a strong mixer (Hobart or Kitchenaid stand) you will have to stir the rest by hand--dough gets stiff.
Pinch dough off in tablespoon sized pieces, roll & set on cookie sheet.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or till golden. Transfer to wire racks.
While warm, spread with Anise Icing. If desired, sprinkle with party sugar.
