Need an excuse -- Help!

I need a good excuse to convince my non-Disney spouse we should go to WDW for a few days and leave the kids at home. Either a trip this fall or next winter. I have no work-related meeting possibilities. We have no family there. She doesn't really like the parks that much (except Epcot some due to the restaurants and WS atmosphere). Nor would PI attract her.

Time at the SSR spa? I can't imagine any woman turning that one down.

Would she have any interest in the resorts themselves? Or how about something different like swimming with the dolphins at Discovery Cove? Orlando is full of GREAT things to do besides going to WDW (not that I have done many of them lol). Does she like to shop? Tons of outlet centers around there. How about a couples spa treatment at SSR? Lord, take me! I don't need the parks to want to get out of town with just hubby!!! lol

Instead of convincing her, why don't you just surprise her? Arrange childcare, do something romantic like pop a bottle of champagne, give her a note telling her she has 30 minutes to pack for a suprise destination. What can she say when you pull into dvc after that? When you arrive, hand her tickets to La Cirque. Have a great weekend!

every couple deserves a trip alone! We're going home for the first time in Sept. WITHOUT THE KIDS!!!!!! Can't wait! Some well deserved time alone!

Has she been to the Food and Wine festival yet? If she likes World Showcase and the restaurants, then the Food and Wine festival might get her excited for a visit.

Oh my god you are an awesome husband! I would love it if my husband arranged a kid free trip for us! Some one else mentioned the food and wine festival in Oct. It's perfect!!!! I'm sooooo jealous!

Is this one of those "gifts really for you." I still remember the Christmas my husband gave me a computer game he wanted. (Honestly, he thought I might like it.)

Disney is great. And its great for couples. But maybe your spouse would rather spend a long weekend at the beach, or in San Franscisco, or in New York, or in the mountains. And quality couple time is not about finding excuses to convince someone to do something they are reluctant to do.

I think the Food and Wine might be the ticket!! She LOVES that kind of thing. And I'll need some pics of the SSR spa on hand. I just want to have some ideas ready when she tells me she wants to go somewhere else.

And then there's the excuse that we've got the points and staying at WDW is the most efficient and economical use for them and the best way to save $$. Now that I think of it, that excuse is one of the main reasons I got the points in the first place.

Actually, I wasn't looking at it as a "gift." We both want to get away together sometime and when we try to decide where I want to put in a good word for WDW. I think we would BOTH rather go to NYC and see some shows, but the $$$$ would be a little more than we want to spend. As for mountains, we live in them -- Appalachians. I would go for the Rockies and suspect she might like that but it's so far for a long weekend-type trip. As for the beach, I think Amelia Island would be nice, but I would hope to convince her that WDW would be better, as we all know it would.

Her pick would be to go to Memphis and stay with her parents.

crisi! My dh did this to me one year. It sure wasn't all that funny at the time. But hey, he learned, hasn't done it again. Thanks for sharing your story.
