Need an AP for Dummies Book

I have read lots and lots and lots of post about APs but still feel confused. My most basic questions are:


1. When the AP rates come out (which I understand will be very soon) will they be for dates through out all of 2002 or only for January 2002? I have the room only DC discount for our trip in November of 2002 for POR but am always looking for a better discount, if possible. So can I call as soon as the word is out or do I have to wait until 60 or 90 days before our trip?

2. If I order my AP from CRO can I get my DC discount on the price?

3. If I order my AP from CRO will I get a voucher and my time not start until I activate it or will it be the actual pass with the time running?

4. Can I get two rooms with my one AP?

I wanted to impress my family with my ability to get our trip planned and reserved under the budget I have been given to work with. But I have to 'fess up that I have actually gotten all my info and tips from the DIS boards.

1. When the AP rates come out, they usually cover two-three months. It will probably be approximately August before AP rates for November will be out. Could be sooner, though -- this year AP rates for fall through end of year were out very early b/c reservations were down. Also, there is no guarantee that there will be AP rates for any particular time. We did three trips with our APs last year, and AP rates were available for only one of them. As I'm sure you know, you can cancel the reservation you are holding and book an AP rate if you get lucky.

2. Not sure about this. If they say "no," call the DC line.

3. It will be a voucher.

Generally there have been no AP rates for Oct, Nov or Dec....but this was a stellar year, with more AP rates out all year long....yippee!!! Keeping fingers crossed for more in 2002 since this will be my first year using my AP.....LOL

Also, you can call the #800 DC and get your DC discount for purchasing your AP (voucher) with them too.

Thank you. I will mark my date book to start seaching in August and hope for a repeat of the extra AP discount for the fall months. The DC discount got us our rooms at a figure less than budgeted so I will be happy with that if the AP discount doesn't materialize. The truth is, I really want to get a AP discount so I would have an excuse to buy an AP and then use that as leverage for another trip within the year.

Tiggerish - When you buy a Ap from CRO they mail a voucher which doesn't "start running" till you exchange it at a special window at the WDW parks.

And when looking for the AP Rate it is important to watch the Dis,too,the kind people here always announce when the new rates start!!
