We have booked a cruise for March 13th but did it online and not with a TA. My son has severe nut allergies and I would like to notify someone of this and also request a separate table for us. Would I just contact the Disney customer service? TIA

We have contacted customer service by phone and notified them of DDs multiple food allergies and requested a separate table. When we board we visit maitre d and verify our table. We have been very impressed DCL with food allergies.

You can have the request placed on your reservation to be seated alone. Here's a link to the DCL website with information as to how to handle allergy requests:

If the allergy is severe enough to warrent a seperate table just know that part is a request and not guarenteed.

Also the cruise kitchens are much much smaller than the parks kitchen so they will try their best to bring the food to you allergen free but the cruise will not guarentee allergen free. I would make sure you bring extra of any epi pens or medicine needed and have a good travel insurance policy that covers preexsisting conditions just in case anything happens.

Also let the kid club people know, if you think there's a chance he would eat something while in the club. They serve lunch and the "anyone can cook" activity does result in something like a cookie.

(My son merely has a sensitivity, and not to nuts and not an anaphylactic one, and loves to participate but won't eat the cookie even though we've checked on ingredients* and he can have it. He just gives it to another kid doing the activity. So I've stopped informing the kid club counsellors because i know he's not going to eat things there. Depending on the child, another parent might make a different choice.)

*the cookies they get are from the kitchen, and are not the very simple group of ingredients the kids mix together.

I agree with all of this. We unfortunately did everything right...we made notes on the reservation, had a separate table, sent in the medical forms, met with the dining team on boarding day, went over the allergies at each meal with the dining team and still had food put on our daughter's plate that could kill her. There were 2 other families that had anaphylactic reactions on our cruise.

I guess I had a slightly different experience. We called and notified them on the regular DCL phone line (although we didn't ask for a separate table). My wife is extremely allergic to shellfish. Disney did a wonderful job of it. The wait staff confirmed with us on the first night, and every night after, they gave her the menu for the next evening and had her pre-order her food. They prepared her food in advance in a separate kitchen to avoid any allergines.

The only problem we had was lobster (Captains Galo) night. Although they prepared her food separate, the lobster juice was too intense in the entire dining room, and she had an allergic reaction. She went immediately out to the atrium followed by about 3 Disney CM's who would not leave her alone until they were positive she was alright. So yes - in that case, she did have an allergic issue; but that was thorough no fault of DCL (we now book Palo on that night).

Everything in DCL's control however they were VERY attentive to her allergies.
