We are going to be going to one of the DVC in June or July of 2010. Which would you choose and why?

Its would be me, DH, DS (16), and Dbaby (11 months).

Thanks!

Would respectfully suggest that you read a lot of the threads on here about all the different resorts -- at the top of this board, you can click on Resorts and find out a lot. There are people who love each and every one of them for different reasons. So much depends on your own situation and what you are looking for -- they all have their own personality and plusses and minusses. Good luck with your decision.

There are so many DVC resorts, all with their special features. Before deciding on a resort, you may want to first think about what would be important to you for the trip.

Is it easy acces to the parks? Certain parks? Are you looking to spend more time at the resort and looking for something more low key?

Once you have an idea, then you can start seeing which resort would be ideal.

We just became DVC members because of the BLT. We were huge Contemporary fans because we love the option of walking to MK, our favorite resort. So, when DVC announced BLT, we were excited as we have been visiting for many years and had been tossing around the idea of DVC.

But there are plenty of people on here who can share with you great things about the resorts! Good luck!!!

I just bought at BLT, easy access to Magic Kingdom and Epcot, on the monorail.
We decided on this resort because membership runs through 2060, also. I added up all the numbers and it was the resort that made the most sense "to invest into".
We figured many of the other resorts have already used 1/3 of its use years.

I would have LOVED to own at Boardwalk, which is my favorite. Walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, or the boat if I don't feel like walking.
It (Beach Club also) is convenient to any restaurant worth eating in , on Disney property. I love the back entrance to Epcot.

The buses make it so convenient to get to any resort or park, that the location is not SO important for going to the parks.

To me, being close to better restaurants is what makes the Boardwalk/Beach Club resorts a better choice. Parks become less important when you go there once per year (sometimes more)

It depends on what you are looking for. You will read ALOT of different opinions. This is just my opinion.

Well Epcot and MK are our favorite. We'll be with a baby, if that matters. I guess I really have to start looking around for what best. I didnt think it would be this hard to choose.

But we also like DTD too. Choices!

MK = VWL or BLT
Epcot = BCV or BWV
DTD = SSR

Good luck! :goodvibes

My suggestion is to head down there. If you don't drive, rent a car. Go and visit each of the resorts. It is much easier to get between resorts by car than always having to transfer on the bus. When you get to the resort, stop at the front desk and ask for a map plus a suggestion as to where to wander around. Tell them you are thinking of joing DVC and want to see their resort. Spend a few hours at each resort. You will probably end up with some favorites and some you may want to avoid.

Good Luck

Are you buying or just visiting? If buying, do your tour while down there. It will be a lot of fun! :goodvibes

If you're just visiting, they're all wonderful and have their pros/cons. With a baby, I might suggest BCV. It's close to many things on the Boardwalk, and it has a little zero entry area for you and Dbaby (that's too cute by the way, I don't think I've seen Dbaby before! :laughing:) to play!

SSR is also nice, too. If you have a stroller and don't mind walking, it also has a zero entry main pool, and you are a 5 - 10 minute walk from DTD (Congress Park or Springs sections).

Hope you have a wonderful stay! :thumbsup2

BCV or BWV offer alot location-wise : walk to Epcot & DHS (& to Swan/Dolphin) or take Friendship Boats across Crescent Lake, many dining options at these resorts & Swan/Dolphin both quick & casual & fine dining and you'd be nearby Epcot's World Showcase with a multitude of dining possibilities.

Stormalong Bay pool at BCV will probably appeal to both your son & baby, BWV has a great pool too - note that if you stay at BCV you can pool-hop to BWV but not other way around ( you must stay at BCV to use Stormalong Bay)

Daily activities : BWV - has Community Hall with activities for kids & sometimes older kids/adults too ( I believe if you stay at BCV you can participate in these activities too ), early evening Boardwalk entertainers (magician, jugglers, etc. - it varies ), carnival games, ESPN Zone has many video games that our son enjoys. BCV - evening movies on the beach (can attend if BWV guest too).

Your son may enjoy, as our two eldest kids do, that these resorts are not so 'confining' so to speak - it's fun for them to stroll around & explore, they love getting a burger at ESPN or Beaches & Cream at BCV and treats at Boardwalk Bakery / Ice Cream Shop. Nice to walk around Crescent Lake with little ones in their carriage too; bicycles to rent too.

Best wishes on your planning :goodvibes

BLT - you can walk or monrail to the MK

you can monrail to Epcot.

kept in mind that DVC either share with other resorts or have mulitply stops (even AKV will when Kidani opens) for their buses.

so it is important to decide which park you will spend the majority of your time. If the MK then BLT. the monrail is nice for transportation to Epcot - but nothing beats being able to walk to your room.

but with a little one really doubt that you will be staying at Epcot until it closes.

We bought BWV because we love EPCOT and we liked the close proximity of BWV to EPCOT and Disney Studios. We also liked that there were other resorts Yacht Club, BCV, Swan, Dolphin so close by with all of their restaurants and other amenities. My suggestion is to select a resort that really excites you!

With a little one, I would probably choose to stay at BLT. Easy access to the monorail and MK. Nothing beats just putting your kiddo in the stroller in your room, and never having to get them in/out and collapse it again for transportation!!! :thumbsup2

OK I didnt think this would be so difficult! haha.

Im thinking now BWV or BCV, because it will give something for DS (16) to do, and might work best for baby too ...

But being on the monorail line is very appealling too!

I guess I'd probably lean toward SSR or OKW since you have such a wide range of ages. The baby isn't going to matter which, since the only real consideration is getting back to the room for naps. I would normally suggest BLT or VWL if you are planning to spend a lot of time at MK, but with a 16 year old, you might be better off at OKW or SSR so the teen can come and go to DTD on their own. There really isn't all that much for them to do at the other monorail resorts, but DTD has a lot for a teen, and both SSR and OKW have easy access to DTD via walking paths and/or a boat.

I think BWV or BCV would also be good for the teen and maybe for you as well, since it is easy access to both Epcot and the Studios. Frankly, I always think MK is the easiest of all parks to get to from any DVC resort. Unfortunately, there used to be some problems with getting to MK from BWV and BCV, but I haven't heard any horror stories about that in a long time.

Is this your first Disney trip? If not, you probably know that there is a LOT a teen will like at Epcot and DHS! The thrills at DHS, and Soarin' etc. at Epcot will definitely please them. Another consideration is the heat. If you go in July, that will definitely be something to consider!!! Especially with a baby in tow.

Not easy to make a recommendation but based on the factors you mentioned, I'd say BLT.

You listed MK and EP as your favorite parks. Being on the monorail line would give you easy access to both. You have a little one which will probably mean you'd need to take a break from the park(s) - again, MK and EP would offer easy access to your resort via the monorail.

Based on the the aforementioned, it seems as though it would be more important for you to be near your favorite parks rather than DTD. It really depends on where you plan on spending more of your time. Either way, it's a tough but fun decision to have to make.:)

well, i thought i knew where i wanted to stay ... but now im back at the drawing board! :eek:

im going to put a request in for any of them for the week we want and see which comes up first. im sure we will be happy at them all.

i just cant wait to get back there!!! :banana: we have been since 2007 :scared1:
