I am needing to buy a dishwasher. I am going to get it from either Home Depot or Lowes. Pretty much the same price.

I was thinking about getting around $450 worth of discount gift cards to one of the stores. But I'm not real sure how good of an idea this will be.

I have purchased lots of discounted gift cards online but not this much at one time, so I am kinda nervous. Can anyone give me any advice on doing this?

Is one store better than the other with gift cards?

We just bought a couple Lowe's from Raise for a dishwasher. It is instant so I bought them and immediately applied them to my cart online. I wanted to buy through ebates for a little more discount. I didn't have time to wait for an actual gift card so I took the lower % voucher ones.

Ebay has $200 cards for $185 bought through Paypal Digital Gifts.

This is probably the best way to go... ive seen it go down to at most 13% off for Home Depot.
Do keep in mind though, if you do use gc to purchase a dish washer, you will lose out on the extended warranty the credit cards company provide.

ebay gc --> other gc, i heard no longer works now. I read something about them closing that route up, ppl with existing balance had a month chance to liquidate everything before the official closing of that trick.

I think @davper is talking about buying the $200 Lowe's gc on eBay for $185- not using an eBay gc to buy a gc.

We left a little bit for the credit card.

What she said.

Ya, I did see those on Ebay. So could I use those gift cards from Paypal in the store, or just online? They will be valid and not drained, right?
