Need Advice for Land/Sea w/Cabin 8550

It's less than a month before our hurricane delayed Land/Sea adventure. Our family of five boards the Wonder Apr. 7th. Anyone have any info on Cabin 8550? At DW we're staying at the BC starting Apr.3rd. I'd love some advice on the hotel stay, too!

We decided to parasail at the Contemporary the day before our package begins, to keep the pressure off us at Castaway Cay. Costs about the same due to tandem discount, which you don't get on the island. Am I wrong to miss the island view? No stingrays are available in Nassau Apr. 8th- one place closed since hurricane, other booked by private party. We'll be dancing with the dolphins instead. I booked directly with vendor to save $$. At CC, we'll do the banana boat late in the afternoon. Yippee!

We've got passports, lanyards, magnetic door sign, bromine, sunscreen, meds, all due to your wonderful advice. Am I missing anything? I'd still like a waterproof backpack, if anyone can advise. Also, what do you do with your cash when you're out having fun (and getting wet!)? Is Palo really worth eating twice (to be with the kids)? Thanks to all of you for you assistance this past year!!! We couldn't have done it without you!

Cabin 8550, anyone???

While I haven't stayed in stateroom 8550, I have sailed in a Category 4 before. There were three of us, and had plenty of room. The rooms are a bit deeper than other staterooms with verandahs. There is a Murphy Bed that comes out of the wall by the verandah that can sleep one. We loved Deck 8 for being close to the pools and spa. The only disadvantage was coming out of dinner and having to climb all those steps on a very full stomach.

Parasailing at the Contemporary Resort looks like fun. I've never done it personally -- the afraid of height issue and all. But if it is less expensive than CC, I would probably do it at the Contemporary.

The Beach Club Resort has a restaurant called Beaches & Cream out by the pool. There are times the wait can be long, but the serve the best hamburgers. Your whole family can share in the Kitchen Sink dessert and your kids will think you are the best parents ever (for at least a few hours).

Eat at Palo as many times as you possibly can. The food is extraordinary. With the exception of one experience the service has been top notch. If your children are old enough, they could go to your normal restaurant alone (the servers are great and will keep them focused on the meal); do pizza/hamburgers from deck 9 or order room service and have a "picnic" in the stateroom. Afterwards they can go to the youth activities and will probably never realize you've been missing.

We stayed in 8550 on our Wonder cruise a few years ago. I liked the location but to us it was pretty noisy. We could hear every sail away party (and we had younger kids so we needed to get them in bed) and you could hear people running above your head because you are right under the pool. We could hear chairs scraping across the deck. For us it was more of a nuisance and we just cranked up the sound machine. You can't beat the location mid ship and just below everything. I dont know if we would stay in that room again on a longer cruise but for the 4 night it was ok.
