Need advice for a special day...

I will be in the World for my 40th bday. I don't have a resort booked yet (waiting for free dining) but hoping for BC. My group and I want to go to AK for the day, have a nice dinner at a signature restaurant, and then go to MNSSHP that night. We will be relying on disney transportation. Assuming I end up staying at BC, what time do you all suggest I leave Animal Kingdom in order to eat dinner (in the boardwalk area), potentially change into costumes for the party, and get back to MK? My understanding is that we could actually get into MK as early as 4 with our party tickets but that would be more lunch time than dinner for eating. Should I consider getting a rental car for that day just to make things simpler? If so, how easy is it to get one? Thanks all!

Honestly, I wouldn't do a signature dinner on the same night at MNSSHP. A nice dinner will take 1.5-2 hours and you'll want to enjoy it. The Halloween party is fun you'll want to enjoy that and get your money's worth as well. I'd consider doing a TS late lunch at AK, then have a QS dinner in MK before the party starts. Then, I'd do a Signature dinner another night - spread out the birthday celebration over a few days.

As well as aggreing with the PP, I would NOT be doing a park the same say as a party - I did it last year, and we were SO tired and cranky and just DONE by the middle of the party. I would suggest doing just the party and maybe doing a signature meal for lunch or just relax at the resort, and do AK an a signature dinner another day.

Just thinking out loud here.

If you want to be at MK by 4 for the start of MNSSHP then you'd probably want to be on a bus by 3:30. That means to the bus stop by 3:15.

You'll need time to change into your costumes so maybe back to your room from dinner/lunch around 2:30. Plan on starting your lunch by 1:00 so not to be too rushed. You'll probably want to get to the restaurant by 12:45 to check in.

Plan on a 30 min bus ride from AK to BW so be on the bus by 12:15. Plan on being at the bus stop by noon.

Thanks everyone a lot for the advice. I was already worried about how exhausted I would be with so much packed into one day so I've decided to do the MNSSHP a different night so that I can spend my day at AK and then have a nice leisurely dinner with my friends.

In that case, consider the bar at Sanaa. The decor is soooo cool! Very relaxing, IMO--a neat place to wind down. I spent my 40th at WDW too, so Happy early Birthday!!
