Hi everyone

I checked out allears and Swan and Dolphin are running a discount while im there Dec 19-22. Im booked at ASMU which I know cant possibly be as nice as S&D from what ive heard. The price difference isnt huge I dont think, not with the discount anyway. As long as Im understadning correctly. S&D charge a $10.. per night hotel fee... and tax isnt included on the rate im seeing. Its being advertised at 129.99 a night. Wondering what the tax is in FL. Also this seems closer to the parks and i was having a hard time figuring out how to get around from ASMU. Plus im scared all those bell ringers and chorus kids will be at ASMU. Any advice? I dont want to get there and find out a large portion of my "spending" budget is taken by hidden fees.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Tink~

The only extra fee you'll have, besides normal taxes, is the ten dollar resort fee. The Swan and Dolphin are in one of the best areas to get to EPCOT and MGM and you can even walk to both if crowds are really bad! You have so many restaurant choices both at the two resorts, and the surrounding area. Heavenly beds, grotto pool, great lobbies and amenities. If it won't break the bank make the switch! That is a VERY good rate!

The Swan/Dolphin and the ASMu are in different counties, so they have different tax rates. The tax at the Swan/Dolphin is 11.5%. I believe the tax at the ASMu is 12% (although that may have increased).

The location of the Swan/Dolphin is definitely a lot better than the ASMu. You can actually walk to two parks (Epcot and MGM). The rooms will be bigger, and the beds will be too.

I haven't stayed at the Swan yet, but will be in a few days. I've heard lots of good things about it.

Tax is 11.5%, except for the All-Stars where it is 13%.

ASMu is $77 per night plus tax for December 19-22...

You'll have 11.5% tax on the 129.00, plus 10.00 a night (no tax). The Swan and Dolphin are unbelieveable and you'll be right in the center of the magic!

If you can afford the difference, my vote is for the Swan or Dolphin. We stayed at the Swan last Dec and are booked for part of our stay in Jan at the Dolphin. If we could have gotten the discounted rate at the Swan or Dolphin for our entire stay in Jan, we would have stayed at either one of these resorts for the entire time. I keep calling each week just in case we can add more nights to our Dolphin reservations but so far no luck. So, I guess we will end up moving to AKL the last 5 nights. The location is great, the beds just heavenly, the staff is super nice, housekeeping is wonderful - our room was very nice and super clean. I would stay at the Swan or Dolphin over most of the Disney owned deluxe hotels and would select either one of those over a value any day. Hope you have a great trip whichever one you chose! :D

I'll admit that the Swan is my favorite resort. I have stayed in both you mentioned. Your $10 resort fee gives you a newspaper in the morning, high speed internet connection and I believe access to a fitness center. (I am not sure since I don't do fitness on vacation!) I have heard that the pools are very nice also, but I don't swim and haven't experienced them. I personally love to be in the center of everything at Epcot and love Graves' architecture. The rooms at the Swan are larger. The Swan has a queen heavenly bed (awesome!). You get two sinks--one in the bathroom and one in the vanity area. There is also a closet with doors to stash your stuff and hang your clothes. Music gives you a no frills, but comfortable place to rest. Only one sink and teeny, tiney little bathroom.
