Hi everybody!
I am starting to put our budget together and I am trying not to be too unreasonable. There are two things I have been trying to figure out if I want to do and would like some advice.
First- children, to invite them or not? We dont have too many young children in our family since I am the first to get married in my family and Chris's sister was the first in his. So right now the only children invited are our flowergirl- who is our niece and god child and will be two and my three cousins who are 15, 15, and 13 (family and not really kids anymore and the older two are bridesmaids). We said on our Save the Dates that our reception would not be including children but I am wondering if I should change this because there would only be 6 more of them? One couple we invited who are friends of our family has 5 children ages 5, 7, 9, 11, and 14 and another friend of mine has a 2 year old. The two issues are cost and space. Even with the children's menus each of the children (except the 2 year old) would be $100 with the soda package, cocktail hour food, and cake so this would be an extra $500 which is a lot to invite our friend's children from one family but I do this we would probably recoup some of this in a larger gift from them. The other thing is we are already at our capacity for the Whitehall Room so we would have to have a seperate children's table outside on the patio for them. They have not complained about the kids not being invited to the wedding at all, and we have invited them to the dessert party and brunch but I am not sure what to do about the wedding? Any advice?
The other thing I am trying to decide about is the tulle canopy...I have always wanted one of these at my wedding. I saw one in a hotel wedding years ago and just loved it! My planner informed me that the cost is $2,605 and I dont know if this even including tax which is just crazy for fabric! I found an outside vendor that would do it for $800 but my planner has told me that Disney does not allow outside vendors to hang anything from the celieng. Totally bummed! Even if we could afford it, it just seems like a waste of money to spend that much on tulle! What are your opinions on this? I just thought it would look so perfect in the Whitehall Room with the circular shape of the room.
Thanks very much for your help and advice!!
