So my entire family and some of my extended family are going to OKW from 12/26-1/2 this year. We have 3 2-bedroom's and a studio booked. My question is, how can I make sure we are all in the same building? Is this even possible? Do I make that request now to MS, or call down directly to OKW the week we go down.

I know it will be a crazy busy time, so I want to do anything possible prior to going down to help this situation!!

Thanks for any info! :goodvibes

It never hurts to ask, but frankly, they are completely sold out (busiest week of the year) so it will be the luck of the draw on who moves out to let you check in. A LOT of those people will have been there since earlier Christmas Week, so there may not be a lot of people moving out.

If it were my family, I would be working on a strategy to keep in contact, etc, assuming you won't be in the same building.

Did you register as a Grand Gathering? That sometimes helps you get your rooms close to each other. Otherwise, it's just a request.

No....we haven't registered as a Grand Gathering. Can I still do this even though I already made ressie's?

Try it and see what happens. You may need to contact MS as well with your GG info.

you may indeed register as a grand gathering ..it's not too late ...the reservations must have everyones names exactly as you've assigned them to the rooms ..they there is more paperwork they fill out and send to the grand gatherings group ...a few days later your contacted with your number ..MS adds to all your reservations and the scoop is when OKW is assigning rooms they see the grand gatherings number and try to group the rooms together ..no guarantees. There are also special events for grand gatherings you can check to see if your interested ..(you may be late to book, but never hurts to try!)

We arrive 10/27 .. GV and 3 studios ...keeping my fingers crossed that we will be close together!!

Good luck!
Peggy

PS ..I did send a letter to OKW room controller this week..then received a call from MS this evening ...seems OKW sends the requests back to MS and they call to say nothing is guaranteed ..so I don't really think my letter (very nice, and acknowledged I knew they couldn't guarantee anthing) really helped my cause!!

Peggy...Thanks for all the info!! Do you know what phone number I would call to register as a Grand Gathering? Sounds like that is the best way to do it!

Grand Gathering worked for us last Dec in a GV and 2 studios. The GV was in the middle of the building and the studios were at opposite ends. Not close but in the same building.

With OKW, it is best to pray. ;) We've had our reservations for multi-villas linked in the past, and it would have been difficult for the (original) room assignments to be further apart. :rotfl:

I hope the GG registration makes this a non-issue for you!:wizard:

When we wanted to be "near" our friends on an OKW trip a couple years ago, each of us requested to be near the other when we made our reservations with MS. We were in back to back 2 bedroom units in the same building. Our entrances had different stairways, but the units backed up to each other. It was VERY convenient! We have been told specifically NOT to call the resort.

Request it and make sure it is put on all 3 reservations. They will tell you that it is a request and not a guarantee, but I have found that they are usually pretty good about granting requests when possible.

This has been great advice!

I think my plan is to register as a GG, while also making the call to MS to have them put on each ressie that we would like to be in the same building. Kinda a double-whammy of sorts! ;)
