I need a baby gift for a friend of my DD's who lives in Germany think I want something that can be used forever or at least saved forever.

I'll be goin to disney in a few weeks so pickin up the gift not a problem. I'd like a few ideas think I want to spend 20 - 25.00 max. Could be one item or a couple of small items.

If we ship the gift from WDW will it have the WDW postmark on the gift?

One item I don't think I want to invest in is a stuffed mickey or stuffed toy they collect to much dust and after a couple of years get to nasty.

If anyone has a good idea for a nondisney item that is very American feel free to post.

Think I want the item to say WDW on it or the MK something definately disney.

This german girl is a special friend of DD's who was a foreign exchange student here and my DD and her became good friends and has kept in contact for about 10 yrs now. In fact the girl hasn't kept in touch with her host family but has my DD :)

Do they celebrate Christmas? If so how about an ornament with the year on it.

I have been giving my neices an ornament every year since they were born, not all Disney ones.

I started out giving them the Hallmark ones with Babies 1st Christmas thru 5th (I think that is how far they go) & now I buy them an ornament on what they like.

Last year they got American Girl Doll ornaments.

I am hoping that when they get older they can say in 1998 I liked soccer or dancing, etc...

If you're looking for something VERY American, anything with a flag or red, white, and blue is as American as you can get. This can sometimes get dicey given the current political climate, but that's definitely an American gift.

But I would say that anything Disney related could be considered very American too - so maybe you could combine a Mickey Mouse item with a flag? Perhaps a porcelain statue? I would bet that you could find something like that just about anywhere - in Epcot at the American Adventure - or even on Main Street in the fire house?

Good luck choosing - I think it will probably be very hard to narrow down the options you will have. :goodvibes

What about an ID bracelet with the baby's name engraved on it. When I was and exchange student to England that is what I gave my host mom. It had a little American Flag on it next to her name. I think I even found them at Wal-mart way back then.

Bumping this up for more ideas.

Thanks to those who has already given me ideas.

Totally non-Disney (and perhaps over your price limit), but if I wanted a gift that would be saved forever, I'd send a baby quilt, made by local crafts people. Quilt patterns tend to be pretty regional, so I'm sure she wouldn't get anything like that in Gemany.

If you are sending the package from Disney World, the postmark won't say Disney World. It says Lake Buena Vista. Even postcards mailed within the theme parks won't have any special postmark. The explanation is on the mailboxes around the parks.

Check out the American pavilion at Epcot for the baby things. One thing that would be inexpensive and kind of clever but doesn't have Disney World attached to it is copies of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. I believe there are baby bibs sold here too. Check out the shops at Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom. Take videos of the Flag Retreat at Magic Kingdom and the Voices of Liberty at Epcot.

I think a snowglobe would be a beautiful baby gift, maybe one with a musical piece to it?

I've lived in the US since 1999, my best friend in Sweden is expecting her 2nd child, this time a babygirl. She wants me to buy clothes, formula bottles, pacifiers, Fisher Price "Aquarium" for the bed and a mobile for the bed among other things. She has visited me once and we have so much varities of baby clothes and accessories here in the US. Babt Reebok or Nike shoes are an option, Hallmark has a trinket box for 1st tooth or was it a lock of hair? sp?

Typical American in her eyes are all the sippie (SP?) cups and formula bottles. They have no where near all the items we have here.

For her 1st baby (a boy) she wanted me to buy the outfit he was to wear going home from the hospital, his first cuddly toy and so I did. She also wants me to do it this time too. I just shipped a box of baby girl clothes bought at Kohl's, Target and Wal-Mart for incredible low prices, clearance is wonderful and she SO appreciates getting them! :sunny:

How about framed Disney Dollars that he/she can spend on their first American Disneyworld trip!

Exactly what I was going to say!! :thumbsup2

Disney also sells Americana ornaments that you could have personalized.

One of my favs is the giant Mouse ear ball in the flag pattern.

Kinda hits all marks... American, Disney and personalized with baby's name.

In the gift shop at Liberty Square I bought my neighbor a pillow that has the flag, Mickey Mouse, and WDW established and date on it. The Christmas Shoppe across the street also had some cute Christmas ornamaents that could be personalized.

The World of Disney stores and the gift shop under the castle had some Precious Moments figurines holding Disney characters that I bought for my D-I-L. Precious Moments figurines are American made right? (in Missouri?).

If they celebrate christmas.....a tree decoration, and a stocking, both can be personalized.

Recently my friend received a set of books (5 I think) for her newborn. Each book was enscribed by the giver, and signed by a disney character.
