Spent last week at the Dolphin and slept on Heavenly beds. The bed was by far the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on. My DH and I have had waterbeds almost our entire married life and could never imagine having anything else.
Well, the heavenly beds made me change my mind. I even told DH about it when we arrived home and said that was the next bed I would buy when we needed one.
Fast forward to yesterday (just arrived home saturday!).... Took sheets off waterbed to wash and low and behold, found water under the mattress.... Not good. We drained the bed and managed to find a seam that had come loose. THis waterbed is 7 years old so there is no way we would try and patch it.
I would order the heavenly bed but it takes 6-8 weeks to be delivered. I slept on the sofa bed last night and there is NO way that I would be able to continue sleeping on that nightmare for 6 weeks....
I need a heavenly bed, but need to be able to get it today....
Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.
Cathy

I love those Heavenly beds.:) They really live up to their name.:)

I bought a new bed about 2 months ago. I can't even remember the kind of bed I got.:o

I havent slept on the Heavenly beds but...

We just bought a Serta Perfect Night Quilt top. OOOhhhh the luxury!!!!

Good luck!

Air mattress until you get it. ??

They are great. Have you called them at 877 777-5418 to see if there is anything they can do to speed up the order/delivery process? You could go check in at a local Sheraton/Westin till delivery. :teeth:

LOL Dan! Yes, I suppose I could just go back to the Dolphin.... ::yes::
I have not called them, but may do so.
It has been so long since we have had a 'real' bed, I have no clue what to buy. you can go to a store and lay down on a bed, but it really doesn't give you any idea of what it will really be like.

Serena,
I haven't slept on an airbed either, but had considered that. I don't know if I could do that for 6 weeks either. I hate to buy something and then find I am not going to be able to tollerate it. I am having some surgery on wed and will want a good bed when I get home.

THanks. Keep the suggestions coming. There is a furniture store in our nearby town that has Simmons mattresses so I can at least go there today and see what they have. I did email customer service at the Westin web site to see if there was a suggestion of a similar bed but they did not have any suggestions.

If you decide you can't wait on a Heavenly bed (they are great!), then try a Select Comfort mattress. They have a 30-day trial period I think, and I've heard they are VERY good mattresses.

Although Dan's idea is certainly tempting......:p

I have a Select Comfort Sleep Number bed. It is the BEST thing I ever bought in my life. I'm a 35. My husband is a 55. A few months ago, I hurt my back, so I bumped it up to 60 to give me some more support. My arms don't go numb anymore (I'm a side sleeper). I got the pillow-top, king bed and it cost under $2000.00.

They do a 30 night, in home trial so you can try it out.

I love my bed. I want to stand in front of the stores and tell everyone about this bed.

We have been bed shopping as well and the bed that we independently determined was the most comfortable (without staying at any hotel) was one of the simmons beautyrest extra plush pillowtop beds. They have different names for different stores but 1-800-Mattress calls it the Hutton (it's the newest model, replacing last year's that i can't remember the name of) and Sleepy's still has last year's and calls it the Drucilla. I have been told by more than one mattress salesperson that this level of mattress is substantially the same as the heavenly bed with very slight differences. Of course, it doesn't come with all of the heavenly linens and stuff but most places have these mattresses in stock and can deliver the same day or the next day.

If you do that, don't forget to bargain.. most mattress places are very flexible on their prices. I can't wait until we can order our new bed, our 10 year old mattress has seen better days!

I have heard of the select comfort beds. I will see if there is anyplace in our rural area that has them.
What kind of warranty do they have?
I really like the 30 day in home trial.

Lisa F, Thanks for the recommendation of the beautyrest. I would think that it would have to be pretty similar to the heavenly beds (made by same company and 'look' pretty similar. You can buy the heavenly accessories :)
I would not have thought to bargain ;)

Thanks all. I will let you know what we decide.

Well the heavenly bed IS a simmons beautyrest bed. They just call it the "heavenly bed" as part of the marketing for westin. The slight differences might be in coil count (the higher the number of coils in general the higher the motion separation index and the more supportive the mattress). Actually the new Hutton is 13.5" thick whereas the Drucilla/Heavenly Bed is "only" 12.5" thick. I'm a pretty fussy sleeper but I do think I might have a hard time telling the difference between 975 and 980 coils on the queen bed (or something like that, the differences were that slight). Go to a store and try them out!

Kingsdown from Sleepys is awesome!!

Friends of ours got one and raved. We needed a new bed so we went to try it out and it was incredible. The mattress alone is like 18 inches thick and it is a double pillow top so that you can do the regular flip and rotate thing to get maximum life from it.

Delivered a couple of days later and I have been getting the best sleep of my life ever since.

barbeml, can you tell me more about kingsdown? What is the price range of a king sized mattress from them? Do they have the separate coil system?

I've heard good things mumbled about them before. I always heard the "non flip" mattresses being advertised as a good thing, not a bad thing.

I have always been a mattress flipper and a tire rotator--just seems like good common sense to me!!

Gee, I am no expert on mattress construction, so not sure about coils. I am not at home, so I cannot consult the booklet for you.

We paid about $1100 with tax and delivery for a queen set. They offered no interest financing 12 months same as cash, so we decided to finance and pay off monthly.

We are soooooooooo satisfied. My DH has all kinds of aches and pains from years as an athlete, I often have lower back trouble, and our friend who recommended the Kingsdown is a physical train wreck, and all of us feel much better since we got these new beds.

Just my opinion on the Select ComfortAir Beds. I hated them. I ended up trying out all the Select Comfort Beds and then I purchased a Comfortaire (which is identical to Select Comfort but cheapter because they don't do *mall* retail). They were cheaper, plus they had a 90-day trial vs. a 30 day trial. I also read a bunch of stuff on the internet about people who had bought Select Comfort know that they could return the bed in 30 days if they wanted to. Problem was that when they went to return the bed, the could barely get any customer service to get it returned. VERY big hassle.

Anyway, I hated the air bed. I ended up returning my (and had to pay $75 to ship it back, which you will have to do with Select Comfort--a repack fee). I guess it depends what kind of mattress you had before. Most people I know that LOVE their air mattress were either sleeping on a 25 year old mattress before hand or the couch!!!:p But everyone is different. I ended up getting a Stearns and Foster and I really like it.

We are on our second Select Comfort mattress and I love them. We just went up from a queen to a king and I will never go back. I love the comfort level of the Heavenly Bed at the Swan but this one, for me, is much better. We have the 7000 level (I think) and it truly beats out the Heavenly bed (our last one was only equal to it I admit) and it has a 20 year warranty. I know it won't break down as quickly as a spring mattres either. Perfect for me with my back.

However you probably would have to wait a week for one. But they truly are wonderful beds to sleep on!

Yikes, what bad timing. Goodluck :)

I was pretty desperate to get us a bed today. Last night was horrid sleeping on the pull out hide a bed....ugh.
Our local furniture store has Simmons so I went in armed with an idea of what I wanted and we purchased a queen set. It is a beautyrest with pillow top and feels 'heavenly'. I am pretty sure it is at least in the same ballpark as the one I slept on at the Dolphin. Get this, it was ON SALE today... I can't believe it! Usually I buy and two weeks later it goes on sale.
DH and I went and picked it up after he got home from work.
We do have a slight problem, it is too tall for the frame we have (waterbed with drawers underneath and we need the storage so don't want to get rid of them). It fits very well if we do away with the box springs. I really can't see a huge problem in not having the box springs. We have good support with the solid waterbed framing.... I will call the store in the am and see if the warranty etc is good without the box and then will probably return that if we can.
Now I have to buy sheets.....
Thanks for all the advise. I'll let you know tomorrow how we fare.

Depending on just how tall it is, you can also get a "low profile" box spring which is shorter than the typical 8", so that might be an option too if a few inches lower will work for you. I know someone who has this bed on a platform with drawers underneath and she says that it's absolutely wonderful, perfect support but nice and soft. Glad you're not sleeping on a pullout anymore!

Lisa,
Yes, the saleslady told me about the low profile box springs, but it would still be pretty high. she said it would only make it about 3 inches shorter and that would still be quite a bit higher than we want.....
I think we will try and return the box and hope for the best. Got any ideas for sheets? That's another post :)
I can't tell you how happy I am for not having to sleep on the pull out again tonight :)

Thanks.
