Hi all

We are going to get a towncar service to pick us up between Universal (where we are staying for 3 days) then over to Disney for 14 days. We want to do a Grocery stop on the way to Disney Pick up a few things Certain Yorgerts etc that only the kids will eat. And I was wondering what grocery store is between Royal Pacfic Resort and Disney All Star Music. Id like to go to Publix, but looking at maps, it seems like its out of the way.. Goodings was soo pricey.

So anyone in the area know a grocery store between the 2 the driver wont mind going to? Thanks all :)

Whole Foods Market on Sand Lake Road between Turkey Lake Road and I-4.

I *think* the Walmart on Turkey Lake Road has grocery. Maybe someone else knows?

We did all our grocery shopping there on one trip. Very long lines but convenient to where we were staying.

There is a Publix around there somewhere (I don't recall exactly where) but also another one off 535 just as you get to all the Disney exits.

I would try and find a PUblix, I would stay away from Whole Foods, you could fund half of your next vacation with what you spend in that place.

Since there are so many of us, our sister who is driving down and meeting us at Universal is going to run to the grocery store between Universal and Disney Music Resort,

I need to find her an address
Id like to use a larger chain store like Publix
but I dont want her going out of her way to get there,

Anyone have a address ?

Personally, I would look for the nearest Walmart or Publix -- both operate many locations in the area.

For those of you from up north, most Walmarts in Florida tend to be supercenters (with full grocery departments) and some store are "groceries only" (those smaller stores are branded as "Walmart Neighborhood Market").

There is a Publix on Universal Blvd in the 9000 block - if you leave Universal and go straight down Universal Blvd you will hit it and then you turn right out of there, onto 528, take Tampa exit (like one mile) and you are on I-4. My daughter goes to the University there and that is "her" Publix and it is really nice.

The Walmart on Turkey Lake has food too -she shops there too but very busy. The Whole Foods is close too bu you won't be getting typical grocery store brand names and you are mentioning you want particular items for your kids.

Hope that helps.

I found a Publix on 2925 International Drive in Kissimmee

Think thats the one that I found is closest..

Don't mean to hijack, but is Publix what you would consider "normal" grocery store pricing? We're planning on bringing a lot of stuff with us from home, but will want to buy things like bread, milk, maybe chicken for one night....don't want to spend a fortune.

TIA!

The SuperWalmart on Sand Lake Rd is the best value for your money. They offer a lot even have a lot of disney items you can get for cheaper than at the parks. I go there everytime I go to Orlando. Very spacious and I have never had problems with lines.

Pricing -- well, that varies depending upon what part of the country one comes from. As for selection, Publix is very much a "normal" grocery store (unlike "Whole Paycheck" and the small stores sitting right off Disney property)...

In fact, Publix is the biggest chain in Florida, and much of the U.S. Southeast -- for the poster from Pittsburgh, it's comparable to Giant Eagle.

Also, another chain to consider in the Disney area is SuperTarget - for those of you from the Northeast, it's a Target, with a full grocery store inside...

Where I live in South Florida I probably have 8-10 Publix supermarkets within a 15 minute drive, they are everywhere and in my opinion are the best grocery store in Florida. If I had a nice Wal Mart or Target with groceries close to me I would go to them sometimes, but the Targets or Wal Marts with groceries are not that close to me and they're also not very nice.Between Universal and Disney there's a Publix on Sand lake rd north of I-4 by restaurant row and there's also one on Universal Blvd by the Rosen Shingle Creek.I however have gone into the Wal Mart supercenter on Turkey lake rd and have no problems with that store,it's pretty new, clean and you'll always get good prices at Wal Mart. One thing that they don't have that Publix does is the BOGO free deals, there's many times I shop at my Publix and spend $60 and with the BOGO deals end up saving $30-$40.There's also a Winn Dixie on 535 just north of the Hotel Plaza blvd entrance by Downtown Disney, not the biggest fan of Winn Dixie but it's better than the prices at Gooding's.
