The bad news is someone stole my DD22's garmin out of her glovebox (and cradle and charger). The good news is they didn't steal her car - they took her neighbors!

Lesson learned is Garmin goes in the house every night. :headache:

So....need to replace it so she can find her way around Orlando. Luckily she had been at her summer job long enough that she knew how to get there and back so its not a huge rush. LOL

It doesn't have to be expensive but would like to have lane assist and street names. Should I just go to ebay?

Sites like http://www.techbargains.com/
will tell you which vendor currently has the best deal.

You want lane guidance. Do you also want free map upgrades? Traffic? Once you know what features you want you cans look for specific units.

If you wanted to go locally, check out salescircular.com Choose your state and then look on the right hand side under car electronics. I would make sure that you bought one with lifetime maps. There was a discussion on this a while back and it seems like most are including this now.

woot has a woot-off going on and if you keep an eye out, there is the possibility that one will pop up on there.

Also, I bought one for both my mother and my husband at Christmas time. I found deals on newegg, through the email newsletter. There isn't one on there right now, I did check.

I bought them both Garmins, both with lifetime maps.

My mom's was Garmin Nuvi 255 (newegg) and my husband I bought Garmin nüvi 1300LM (amazon). No complaints for either of them. (I believe my husband's has a larger screen.)

Also a work around for right now, if you have smart phones with unlimited data, you can install google maps on them and they work decent. My son says that if you have an android phone, you can install google navigation for free and it works as a GPS.

I hate that there are so many choices, it makes you have to think way too much LOL Mine is a 1350 and I'm happy with it. Mostly I want her to be able to find her way home to Pensacola! LOL
