I need a good character dinner to plan for the night we arrive in Disney. I figured it would start the trip off right to have a fun dinner for the kids. My boys are 2 and 5.

I have already booked several Character breaskfast's, so I am wanting something different.

These are the breakfast ADR's that we already have......
Donald Safari Breakfast
Chef Mickey Breakfast
Hollywood & Vine Breakfast

Any recommendations as for a dinner???? Oh and we are on the Deluxe dining plan.

Aloha,

My family's experience with the character meals is to skip the breakfasts and do only lunch and/or dinner. My kids are not AM people nor big eaters in the AM. Plus we were always in a hurry/stressed to get to the AM meal on time and then to rush through our experience to get to the parks.

Thus our previous AM character meals were just a big waste of $$ and delayed our entry into the parks. And you WANT/NEED to hit the parks at their respective openings.

My five-year old son greatly enjoyed his B-Day experience at Chef Mickey's for dinner. We were in no hurry to go anywhere and just relaxed and enjoyed everything.

Crystal Palace for lunch was nice. Don't recommend GF 1900 Park Fare. It was a disappointment. CRT was in a league of it's own. Outstanding in all respects. A BIG hit for my daughter and very enjoyable for the entire family.

To start our trip off right we either go to 1900 Park Fare of Chef Mickey's for dinner. With these two choices we don't have to go into the parks but it is really a nice touch of magic :thumbsup2

For dinner?
Well since you have BOYS they might not care for 1900 park fare (cindy and gang) but its an option.

Are you looking for in park meals or resort meals as its your first night there?

Resort~ try whispering canyon... its not a character meal but boys have tons of fun here!!! Its loud and funny and they play games and what not
I always recommend Whispering Canyon to those that have boys :rotfl:

I might suggest kicking it off with a dinner at chef mickey and changing your breakfast to something else. That or if you are going to go into the parks- Crystal Palace.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I choose mostly breakfast ADR's for them b/c they are really morning people. Both of them absolutely love breakfast and I wasn't sure how cranky they will be from being in the parks all day, so I figured at least I know they are happy in the am's. LOL!!!

We were thinking about hitting MK the afternoon we get there, so I was thinking maybe the Crystal Palace for dinner. I just wasn't sure if it was good or not. I have heard great things about their breakfast, but nothing about dinner.

Liberty Tree Tavern is a great homestyle character dinner at MK. We loved it and the characters were so much fun!!!!!:dance3:

Probably my favorite character dinner in a park. It has an added benefit in that it will be completely different characters and many kids are familiar with the Pooh cast. Liberty Tree would be second. You should pick up Chip and Dale there which I don't think are in your breakfasts.

If you want to use a park ticket, than I would go to LTT or TCP. But if you don't want to use a park ticket (we don't that first night) than I would definitly go to Chef Mickey's!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks again for the suggestions. I am calling to make ADR at Crystal palace today. And if the times I need are available we will do LTT.

We have an extra park ticket b/c our flight leaves early on our last day, so we won't be using it then.

have to comment OP:
your lil guys are just sooooooo darn cute!
they have some of the sweetest (with a bit of the mischevious :thumbsup2 ) smiles i've seen!

but in answer to your question, LTT & chef mickey are both great choices. crystal palace has a delicious buffet, but has pooh & friends (not always winners with boys :rolleyes1 ).
another to consider is prime time. kids get such a kick out of seeing their parents "reprimanded" for putting their elbows on the table, not finishing their food, etc
hth :)

we like the garden grill at EPCOT's land pavillion. Farmer Mickey, chip n dale, pluto. meals are served family style and are all you can eat.
