Technically it is but quite frankly I think it is wrong not to allow the transfer of bibs, even if you charge a small fee and get a re0signed waiver. In reality all the is necessary is a very simple database update on the back end and a new waiver.

I know some RDs disagree but I think all races should allow the transfer of bib's through some official process.

If you're still looking for a bib, I'm having some health issues that are going to prevent me from running it. How does a transfer work?

Jessica - Sorry that you are having health problems.

My understanding of the transfer is that it works unofficially--that Disney does not do official transfers and so whoever you transferred your bib to would run as you. You would give that person the waiver forms and they would pick up the bib.

As the person who asked about this, and who would be happy to pay you the cost of your registration in exchange for your bib, I see it as okay so long as the point of the transfer is simply to allow one person to participate in place of another.

Do you not have to show ID at the shorter races? I swear I had to have a govt issued ID for marathon and 1/2 marathon packet pickup

You do, even for 5ks. My assumption would be that they would fill out the waiver to have someone pick it up and fax their ID, same as if someone can't make it in time for the expo. Keep in mind with this, however, that everything will be under the name of the person who registered. You will not get credit for any race results.

I would probably also try to be sure the name is something that at least looks feasible. If you are a guy running with a bib that says "Tiffany", it may tip off the race officials get you both banned from races....
