7 January 2006: Large scale test runs with full passenger loads

Yesterday saw one of the first large scale runs of Everest using cast from around WDW as riders for filming of the Discovery Channel specials, set to air around April 9, 2006. The reports from riders so far has been very very positive. The immense detail of the village area is receiving high acclaim, along with the smoothness, backward portions, and interior effects. Last but not least, some comments about the Yeti audio animatronic, "it BLEW ME AWAY!!! ", "the Yeti figure is without doubt the greatest AA I have ever seen", "you won't believe how fast that thing moves!".

One word of warning though, don't expect this attraction to be an intense coaster experience. Whilst it is thrilling, above Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain, and along the lines of Rock 'n' RollerCoaster, it is not a super fast, super high coaster. What makes this attraction so incredible, is the story, theming, effects, a great coaster ride system, and the way they are all integrated together. Disney wanted this attraction to be a major draw for Animal Kingdom and Walt Disney World as a whole, in the way that Splash Mountain is for MK, and Tower of Terror is for the Disney-MGM Studios. The design plan called for it to be rideable for the whole family, and that is exactly what WDI have delivered, and to great effect.

And if you missed some pretty neat photos, from the DIS site, here is a link, not filtered, LOL..........

Thanks Dan...Now all I have to do is find the money to get to WDW this summer. Wish me luck! :upsidedow

Wonder if I will be brave enough to ride it. Just two years ago was the first time I ever road BTM. Luckily I liked that one. RnR is one I will NOT try though. Can't wait to read more reviews about it so I can make up my mind! The story and details are a HUGE draw for me.

I am ready to ride!!!! Have be waiting for this a long time. . . .has been interesting seeing it built

It is interesting that it is going to be a ride that the whole family can enjoy--but that is what makes Disney who they are

:sunny: :sunny:

I still love the hidden preview they had for it in the Lion King 1 1/2 DVD

Thanks Dan! I am hoping there might be a possibility that we will be in the right place at the right time and get to ride EE in late Feb/early March. Sounds like it will be fun!

I am hoping to be able to ride when we are there March 12-25. If not, we return in December!!!! :banana:

I sure hope they don't delay the opening. I'm going on 4/27 and am looking forward to this ride.

Does anyone know just how high the drops really are? I have -wicked- fear of hights. I won't dare touch Splash Mountain because I can't handle the drop. I freak out badly. :scared: I can ride BTMR and PW and Rn'R. I won't touch Space Mountain though. So that's why i'm wonder about this one. At first I said no way will I be going on this. But after looking at the pictuers I don't know...still kinda looks high up.

OMG those pics are flippin' sweet i am going to WDW in may ill have to fast pass it!i cant wait to see the great and fast moving yeti as u mentioned, and when i went to disneyland last week, when i rode on the matterhonr i was disappointed because i thought it would have been better but i realized that ride is almost 30 years old ppl werent as daring as they are now!

I'm glad to know that it won't be too extreme. I love Rock n Roller Coaster, but I don't want something that is going to make me puke.

::hangs head in shame::

When I read that about the yeti I thought it was some little deer like animal.

One day I was watching my nephews and some cartoon was on and the little things were looking for a yeti. One of them kept calling out "yeti, yeti, yeti" while the others were following. What made me think it was something like a deer? :scratchin
