Nearly Wiped Out Today

DD and I are in Tallahassee. We drove up today from Orlando. Tomorrow is DD's preview day at FSU.

I75 between Orlando and Ocala is very busy. Tons of big trucks travel this stretch. Just prior to Ocala, four large trucks were coming up the entrance ramp, so I moved to the middle lane. There were cars in the left hand lane as well. Suddenly, the truck on my right started to move into my lane where we were. I honked at him, but he just kept coming. I swerved toward the left a little, but there was a car there. I kept honking and the cars to the left realized what was happening. The car directly next to me hit the gas to move up and the car behind slowed down. This gave me enough room to get over. By this time, the truck was almost on top of us. I just made it to the left hand lane in time. The truck driver was oblivious or at least acted that way. DD and I were both shaking from the experience. A few more incidents like this and I will never get DD to get her drivers license!

That is SO scary. I'm glad you are OK!

I agree, traffic can be awful on that stretch of I75. DH and I drove on it Christmas Eve (on our way to WDW!) and while there were plenty of cars, there were NO TRUCKS, and it was great!

I did a 3-month internship in San Antonio in the mid-90s and discovered how pleasant interstates can be when truck speed limits are 5 miles an hour slower than car speed limits and are enforced. No huge trucks barrelling along at 75 miles an hour! They were also limited to the far right lane on the intersttes, if I remember correctly.
