Last time we went to DL we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Garden Grove. I really enjoyed our stay there. It wasn't anything flashly but I thought it was nice and served the purposes of what we needed. This time when we go I thought I would stay someplace a little closer to DL. Can anyone recommend some nearby hotels that are 1. Clean and updated 2. Friendly Staff 3. Continental breakfast. I am looking in the 3 * range give or take half a star. Thanks!

We really like this hotel, too. We have stayed there the last 2 times we've been to DLR. We are trying HoJo this trip since we want to be within walking distance to the Parks. They don't offer breakfast, but they have a fridge and micro in the Premium and Deluxe rooms with upgraded bedding and beds. We got the Deluxe room for the Ent. rate of $59 a night! The premium Ent. book rate is $74.

HoJo gets a lot of good reviews on this board for their customer service and upgrades and how close they are to DLR. Looking forward to our stay!

This year we are trying very hard to make every dollar count with the way the economy is going. I know many of you are too. That is why staying somewhere with a continental breakfast would really help with our budget. I thought the Holiday Inn Garden Grove was a really good place only being about a 10 minute drive to DL. My kids were only 5 and 3 at the time. We ate breakfast at the hotel.. packed a lunch and snacks and always ate out for dinner somewhere nice. But this time they said they really wanted to stay at DLR... and that just ain't happening. So I am hoping HOJO's will work for us as a good in between place.

I did go ahead and make a reservation at HOJO's hoping the ERate will be available when we go (I am not holding my breath since it will be spring break). My DH has hotel points with Holiday Inn and Marriot.. so I will likely make reservations at those places too and cancel my HOJO's reservation if we don't get the ERate or maybe stay one night at HOJO's and a couple nights elsewhere.

The Candy Cane Inn has a free breakfast and a dedicated shuttle to the parks. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the staff is very friendly. It is about a 7-10 minute walk along Harbor Blvd to get to the park, but you don't have to cross Harbor.

Have you looked into Hojo? I know they do not offer breakfast, but if you were able to get the entertainment rate I think you would be able to buy breakfast for the same cost of staying at some of the other hotels.

I have heard nice things about CandyCane Inn and they do have breakfast.

oops, Guess I should have read more closely...I see you have Hojo booked. SO, now that I have that knowledge...I will say I know
Desert Inn and Suite and BWPPI both have breakfast of some sorts, but I do not know the ** rating of the properties.
