Can anyone give me any information on the cabin with the navigator's verandah. We're currently in two Cat. 5, and I am contemplating shaving off some of the price if I move to the Cat. 7--also thinking the Cat. 7 may keep me from having a heart attack with my kids out on the verandah. Can anyone give me a better description or pictures of the navigator's verandah?

I have pictures of the nav verandah but I just would have to scan them which isnt a problem, but i am on my way to work and can do it tonight unless someone does it for you before then. Just leave me an email address and I will gladly send them.

I had a Cat 7 Navigators Verandah in January and loved it. You still have the sliding glass doors and you still have an open airway but it is a round whole. You can see out of the whole while sitting down but you cant really see land. You have to stand at the whole in order to see all you want to. I would think that this is the most safest as far as kids unless they will climb so that they can see out. Having a Cat 6 with a plexiglass see through verandah would at least allow them to see out without climbing. I really did like the navigators alot....but that is just my opinion.

Navigator's verandas have two issues you might want to know about while you think

1) They only sleep three
2) The book really fast - they are to verandas what SPH rooms are to portholes.

From what I know of them, there isn't any reason why the navigator's verandah would be any "safer" and might actually be more dangerous.

Go here and click on the link under "Navigator's Verandah rooms" to see some samples of what the navigator's verandah looks like.

For kids that can climb, I see the perfect "escape" path. Climb on the seat and up on the "railing". Then walk the railing till you're standing on the port hole and then jump. On a regular verandah, the only way to get on the railing sould be to climb the furnature as well, but the furnature isn't built into the verandah that makes it look like it's easier to climb.

Let's see if I can do this correctly?

This is room 7624 (the best room on the ship, in my opinion!) on the Magic.

We had a cat 7 on our 4 day and liked it. For the repo cruise I got a cat 7 again. I thought about doing a regular verandah, but I really liked the way it was enclosed, much more private, you kind of feel like you're floating out in the ocean by yourself. I wouldn't leave my daughter out there alone, but I felt quite safe with my 3 year old being out there with us.
