Has anyone stayed in the rooms with the navigators veranda? We're leaving tomorrow for our cruise and I'm curious about the type of room we chose this time. In the past we've had a regular balcony.

Thanks!

I have never stayed in a regular verandah, but I think the Navagator's are awesome. You get some protection from the wind, but still get to spend some nice time outside. The built in bench is nice too.

We've only had a regular verandah, but are considering a navigator verandah for a future cruise. Is smoking allowed on the navigator verandah? My hubby likes to sit out there and have a cigar in the evenings.

We've had both regular and the navigator verandahs and the navigators are our favorites by far.

Image removed because some one stole it.

Here's a picture I took of the one on our Magic cruise this past December. The padded bench is my favorite place to go on sea days and read. You can see the porthole opening on the right. The opening is slightly bigger on the Wonder as it is more oval shape.

As for the smoking question I would guess you could smoke on these just as on the regular one. Actually the neighbors might be happier because the smoke would be more confined to your own verandah.

Oh sorry - should have mentioned that. We cruised over the holidays (the 12/18-12/28 cruise. We had battery operated christmas lights we put around the porthole (you can see the battery pack under the porthole). It was fun to light them up at night.

Mary, you decorated your porthole for the holidays?! That was such a fun idea! :D

We have a Navigator's Verandah for our repo cruise. :boat:

Yes we did! We actually brought two sets of lights (each set had I think 20 lights on it - the mini mini ones - multicolored). We used the 2nd set on the floral tree we purchased from DCL. It was greenery with red and white flowers to look like a christmas tree.

As you can see we even brought a little "snow" from home. Made it really feel like the holidays.

Reg is this your first time in a navigator verandah? How I wish we were on the repo with you guys. Alas we are out of time and money. :D I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Thank you for that pic. I think it helped me make up my mind between a regular veranda and the navigators.
I was afraid the navigators would feel too enclosed, but it doesn't look like it is. I was expecting a tiny little porthole.

Thanks everybody. I'll post about how we liked the room when we return on the 29th.

Got to get back to packing!

I was thrilled we got a nav verandah for the Aug repo cruise :cool1: Can't wait!! (30 weeks, but who's counting, right???)

I asked about the navigators verandah for an upcoming cruise and was told by DU that only 3 people can stay in that room. I have 2 small daughters that could easily sleep in the same bed. Are they that strict?

Yes they are, and not by their choice. It's a maritime law thing.

We had a navigator's veranda last week on the Magic-- loved it! Bright and open yet protected from the wind and enclosed to make us feel more comfortable with DD3. Booking another one for next time!

Oh well - too bad there's 4 of us - I guess I'll have to look at the cat 6 now. Thanks for the response.

Well we've just returned from our trip. The Navigators verandah was very nice. It was a little more private than the regular verandah. I definitely would get it again. For the cost savings, it definitely was worth it.

We had wonderful weather and a wonderful time. Thanks everyone!
