What the heck is wrong with their web-site. I have been trying for ever but tonight I can't even get to their site. It's just not there.

Am I doing something wrong?

Instead of trying the link through my favorites, I typed it in manually and I also tried google-ing it and going it that way but I can't get the site to come up.

Anyone having any luck with it???

I just got in no problem. I typed www.nationalcar.com and got right in.

I've been going through the link on Mousesavers because it's the only way I can get on.

for me it says Cannot find server...Mousesavers link does not work for me either...

Maybe it's my computer but I have no issues elsewhere on the web...

I'll try DH's computer when he wakes up...

might be a problem with your cache.....

but with server not found , it is more likely a link between your isp and the server....which is causing the problem

Wonder if it has anything to do with the "fight" between the Internet backbone companies - Level 3 and I forget the name of the other one. They have a dispute going and it resulted in some people not being able to get to some websites. I thought it was resolved, though - at least temporarily.

This has been an ongoing problem for several weeks and months (many folks including myself have the same problem).One day it works next day it doesn't.
Computer at home screws up but computer at work is fine. Ive talked to my ISP and they can do nothing (even although the ISP rep has the same problem as me when he attempts to find the site). I also contacted the National Webmaster and he can't see a problem (well...at least thats what he says...I don't believe him)

That is exactly what is happening to me. I guess if they don't want to rent me a car, I'll go with Dollar.

Get this...If I go to www.nationalcar.ca I cn't enter the site in English but I can in French.

Does anyone have a 1-800 number for National. This is just plain idiotic.

It's not just you. I've had this problem on two occasions in the past 4-6 months. One time I couldn't reach their web site for nearly a week. Yet other people in other locations could reach them just fine.

I tried a lot of diagnostics and it was NOT a problem on my end. It was not a cache or cookie problem. None of our 4 computers could "ping" their DNS (domain name server). I finally tried connecting through an anonymizer and found I could reach the National site that way -- but couldn't book through the anonymized link.

Eventually the problem went away, only to return for several days about a month later.

I believe they have a major DNS problem. It is extremely annoying and I'm amazed their webmaster isn't aware of this ongoing issue!

Just to be curious, are with Rogers for your internet?

YES!!
On talking to Rogers they told me that Extreme works OK but the regular High Speed and ther Lite are problematic.

Cookie cleaning etc makes no difference unfortunately.
Its definitely not a "personal computer problem" because of the number of folk that have the same problem.
