This site has been posted in several threads but thought I'd put it where everyone can see it easily.

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml?

This links to the Tropical Prediction Center. On the site you can click on the named storms to get detailed information that is updated regularly - more often as storms are more intense and threaten the US.

If you like tracking the storms, scroll to the bottom of the page to open a PDF with a tracking map to print out.

The education link on the left has great information and includes a kids page.

My DD works on the Magic so I'm a litte compulsive about this stuff.

Enjoy!

danielle is now a hurricane and earl isn't too far behind from being one too. i hope both of these storms fizzle out. florida don't need any more bad weather. Charley was enough

From what I'm reading, does this mean Earl should be coming toward the US and gulf areas about mid-week?

The five day prediction map shows Earl in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico on Friday sort of aimed toward Louisiana. We'll have to wait to see what happens later in the week but I would guess Earl isn't a threat to the US mainland until next weekend.

The tracks can change. I posted the link to the Prediction Center so those that are interested can follow the Weather Service information instead of what's reported on the Weather Channel or other news organizations. I'd rather check out the source info myself.

This week's Magic is Western right? They could *potentially* have to reconsider Cayman or Cozumel it looks like given the Earl prediction - if they stay on the typical schedule it could be rain/rough waters even without the hurricane being directly overhead (from living in Houston, the worst side for rain/wind tends to be the NE side of the hurricane I think and given the projected path today that looks to be Cayman).

I wonder when they make the decision on what to do? Gosh, I feel for the staff of DCL the last two weeks; the contingency plans alone have to be so much work/detail to keep up with.

Thanks for the links...I added top my favorites since we are leaving on the 8/21 Magic.
