My trip is exactly two weeks from today and my rates are not dropping one penny, in fact, today it went up by .03. I have a $140.35 rate for an intermediate for the week, but I had hoped it would drop just a little bit. Sure seems to work for other folks that way.

May does not seem to be dropping like April. I have 2 rentals in May and there is not too much happening.
On the plus side the air fares were low.

My National rental has not dropped either. :confused3 I have been checking every day! :rolleyes1

Maybe something will happen last minute. I check as late as the day of departure.

I hope you are right! I will be checking until our day of departure as well.

I checked yesterday and the ressie went up about $1 from what it has been running. It's that same price today. This is from June 8-11.

I'm going next week and just booked the trip last week (DING) but my Alamo rates haven't changed either. I'll be checking every day though I can assure you of that.

Totally agree with checking right up until you leave for the airport. My last trip I rebooked my car the morning I was flying!

I did just get a lower rate at LAX for my Disneyland trip (June 9-16) when they moved a mid-sized SUV below intermediate ($148/wk taxes included). I would have hoped for a vehicle like that on the EA, so I am pretty happy with that price. DW said to check with her before I rebook at a lower intemediate price as she may just want to keep the mid-sized SUV.

I would say that the $140 for the OP could be the final price. I have paid between $160 and $120 for intermediate at National for a week for every trip to MCO.

Good Luck.

My rate actually dropped with Alamo if you're interested. I combined IG (last minute code) and an Entertainment book coupon and saved another $21. I prefer National EA but I like lower prices even more.

RATE DROPPED!!$184 down to $164! I'll take twenty for lunch!
I did switch from the $25 coupon to $30 but used the walmart code the same.

How did you get $140.? I only have $164 weekly rate.

Checked rates again and the rate I have for an intermediate went down $10.00.

I now hold the following for a Wednesday night thru Monday morning rental (weekly rate) next week:

Intermediate $130.81
Premium $134.78
Midsize SUV $144.79

Not sure which one we will end up using, but I am tempted to go for the premium. I figure if they are out of premiums, then they will probably upgrade, and if they have premiums--that must be better than the intermediate or Midsize SUV. Since I have never rented a premium before, I am not entirely sure.

Anyone care to comment...

Jenny, for the intermediate I used contract 5760339 and the Emerald club member code ND1833jjf. For the premium I used 5007125 and ND1833jjf, for the SUV, I honestly don't remember what I used.

The intermedate rate is the one I booked this morning and the rate dropped from what I had before.

Not sure if this makes a difference, but even though I have a weekly rate, I am keeping the car from Wed night 9:30 p.m. until Monday at 8:30 a.m. This is for starting on Wednesday the 16th.

hth.

Take the Premium it's only three dollars more!
How many other people have three or more reservations for cars? This could be driving the prices up. Supply and Demand you know.

yeah, I know about supply and demand. I just don't think that my ressies are the cause of all of May's rates to be so high, and it looks like everyone is having problems getting lower rates.:car:

My May 31 - June 10 ressie has gone down in the last 24 hours. I actually switched to the vacation outlet code of 5042947 instead of the EC code because it was $17+ cheaper than the EC rate. My EC rate went down yesterday $22. I am now paying $283.91 for a convertible for 10 days

Great, maybe they will start coming down a little each day. Even a few dollars a day makes a difference. :thumbsup2

WoW BIG difference!!!! Thanks for the $30!
Is there a printout for the coupon?
