I have a reservation with National which I've had for months. When coupons finally came out for 2006, I went to apply it (through modify my reservation) and rates were double what I'm paying! I just clicked keep my original reservation.
My question is, can you just give them a coupon and have it applied when you pick up your car if it's not part of the original reservation?
I don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm picking my car up at the WDW Car Care Center (Emerald Club Counter).

Thanks.

I just read this somewhere but try creating a new reservation and see what happens. Enter the coupon through the new ressie.

Donna's right. Try making a new reservation. Also don't be afraid to keep checking rates and make a new reservation if the price goes down (cancelling the old one once confirmation is received of course!)

Thanks for your help ladies! The car's for President's week and no matter what code I use to make a new ressie, it's bumping my base rate up to $160 & higher (intermediate). My original base rate was less than $100 (w/ EC member discount). I was hoping to apply the coupon and get the total cost down to $100. I'll hand them the coupon when I pick it up, the worst that can happen is they'll tell me I can't use it! I can't complain though - this rate with National still beat out our corporate rate with Avis that week!!

Just an FYI...may not be the case now, but when I booked my car last year for our Nov/Dec trip I made "time and date" changes to it and it always stayed at the same rate. I think I even changed the coupon from Entertainment book to BJs coupon.

BUT it was deceiving. It looks like on the page where is shows original and new rate that you will get the new rate if you go on to the next page but I didn't. It made my changes and still gave me the old rate. I tested it first by booking a new reservation and then going in to make changes and I found this was the case.

I know it's scary to go past that point of the higher rate on your screen without being positive you'll still have the original rate but just wanted you to know that was my experience. Although it shows two different rates; old one and current rate, it will (should) give you the old rate with the changes you made...

Good luck! You could also call and ask them to enter it for you and ask them to make sure you keep the original rate and see if they can.

I made my car reservations for January in late September before the prices shot up. Prior to our trip I got Entertainment book and tried to apply the code to my existing reservations, but when I tired to apply it the price of the reservations went up as well. National did accept the coupon at the counter when we went to pick up the car WWD.
