We will be a first time EA renter at MCO next week. First time at MCO for that matter. What is the procedure for returning the rental to National at MCO. We will be returning via the 417 due to reduced amount of traffic via that route or so I've heard? Any help or pointers would be appreciated for either picking up or returning the rental. We will be picking up at EA next week (Thursday at 3pm) and returning probably about 1:30 pm on the following Tuesday.

national is at mco. follow the signs to ground transportation, it's downstairs. walk outside, cross the road into the garage and follow the signs for national. you will see signs for the emerald isle, pick your car and drive to the booth and hand over your license and paperwork. it is very easy and quick!

upon return, once you get close to the airport, just follow the signs for rental return, pull into the national return lot and you're done!

I'd never rented a car before my last trip and since my husband wasn't with me, I was very nervous about it. It turned out that I worried for nothing. I rented with National, and it was VERY easy. No high pressure insurance sales, and as the OP stated, I just showed my license and credit card, signed, walked outside to pick out a car, and was on my way!

Returning the car was even easier. You pull into the garage and an attendant comes by with some sort of electronic gauge. They check the mileage and gas tank quickly, give you a reciept, and you're done! It was all much less of a hassle than I anticipated, and I wouldn't hesitate to rent from National again.

Assuming you plan to return the car with the tank full, you will need to stop for gas prior to going to the airport. I usually stop for gas at a Seven-11/Citgo station on SR 536 after you've gone past the I-4 entrances as you follow SR 536 to 417. (I think this might be at the intersection of SR 536 and SR 535. It's on the right hand side after you've crossed the intersection, so it's very easy to access.) The tank will still register as full when you arrive at the rental return.

You will be fine.

All good tips above and have everyone in your party watching for the car rental return sign overhead as you are in the airport lanes. Left lane of the road, it comes up fast, take the exit and you're down in the garage very quickly.

FYI...

The rental car return lane at MCO can be easily missed. Follow the signs for the "Departures" and be ready to make a sharp curve left. There will be a small sign stating "Rental Car Return" (or something like that). The sign is not very big. About the size of a "No Parking" sign and it is mounted about 8 feet off the ground.

There is lots of construction around MCO right now. Not a big deal.

Excellent info from the last two posters about watching for the "Return" signs. We were just there, too, and that might be the only tricky thing. As you get close to the airport, the signs are up above you. Once you get there, watch for the small sign on the left (NOT above you) and be prepared for a left turn. The actual pick up and return are easy.

OMG, we had trouble returning our National car last week, because we couldn't find the return area. So, we called the 800 number, and they were less than helpful. Long story short, is that you can return it at either Terminal A or Terminal B. We had the opposite terminal from where we needed to be. The very nice man at National carted our luggage and guided us to the correct spot. They were great! We used the Emerald Aisle service, which coudln't have been easier. Have a great trip!

I always fill the tank at WDW, either at Boardwalk, World Drive or Downtown Disney before we hit the road to the airport. It's always still on full when we get to the airport. I've noticed the price is less than the station at 535 and 536, the price there is very high (the WDW stations are usually .10 or .15 higher than at home).

We also fill up at the gas station across from DD. We only use "National Emarald Aisle" at MCO (Orlando airport). You can't beat the convenience of the on-site rental at the airport....especially when you do carry-ons only.;)

I use the Hess station about a mile from the 535/536 intersection, the gas there is about 20-25 cents less per gallon.
