Has anyone gone over from the Beach Club to the Dolphin to pick up your rental car? Any thoughts? TIA

We did last year. Actually DH did. We flight in late to Beach Club so we used ME. The next morning, DH woke up and walked to the bus station to go to Dolphin to pick up the rental while I and the kids were still in bed! He said it was super easy. He would not mind doing it again to save some money! Last year, it was much cheaper picking up the car at the hotel than at the airport. We return the car at the airport since he prefer to have a car the last night for some last minute shopping trips.

A few times and will be doing it again this trip. It's a very short walk to the Dolphin and Melissa at the counter is great. FYI, the hours at the Dolphin are 8am-4pm.

I've done the same and it's a very simple walk. You actually bring the keys over to the valet and they pull the car up for you. It's even eaiser to return there, just leave the car with the valet and you're all set!

Never rented a car for vacation before but will need to on a trip later this year. We want to go to Universal for a couple of days at the end of our trip.
So, am I correct in understanding that I can pick up a car at the Dolphin and drop it off at the airport when I leave?
Is renting a car the best way to get to Universal and the airport? I don't anticipate actually using it other than to get to those 2 places.

Yep, just head to the airport and keep you eyes open for the car rental return. Then just drop it off and head to your flight.

I think so. Having a car means you are on your own timetable, not someone elses so you have alot more flexibility.

I agree that this is your best solution. If you use all the right group and coupon codes, you can usually get a 1 day rental from the dolphin to MCO for just over $50 ... that's even better than a taxi by the time you add on the tip.

Also, are you staying at the swalphin? If so, keep in mind there is a parking charge, so factor that into your cost. Depending on your plans, it might actually be cheaper to have two rentals ... one for your Universal day and one for your trip to the airport. If you pick up and drop off at the dolphin, you can usually get a 1 day rental for $39 if you use the right codes.

If you're not staying at the swalphin, be aware that there are several car rental locations in the DTD hotels and you can sometimes find cheaper rates than the National or Alamo at the swalphin.

Thanks for the info. That helps a lot. Off to research some coupon and group codes :)

I just booked a couple Alamo rentals from the dolphin and found the best group code to be Amex which is 7013302 (but you'll need to use an american express). I paired that with the free upgrade coupon code listed on mousesavers which is AU2729MJW. Good luck!

Our trip is not until December....about when would you suggest we start actually looking for codes/discounts and making a reservation?
