Hi, we usually rent from Alamo, but went with National for our trip next week since Emerald Club includes spouse as free add'l driver. With Alamo I could go online and add my DH to the ressie. National didn't have that feature in the confirmation, I called and they said I'd have to go to the counter to add add'l driver. Is this correct?

Strange Alamo lets you add online then just use the kiosk but National doesn't.

Anyone with experience on this?

Signed extremely excited and can't wait to go!!!!!!!

I have added my husband as the additional driver on my Emerald Club rental several times. You DO NOT need to go to the counter. When you are finished choosing your car, you will hand the gate attendant the paper hanging on the rear view mirror, your emerald card, your license, any coupons you are using and your husbands license. If they try to tell you that there is and additional fee for the extra driver, you need to remind them that it is a benefit of your emerald club membership. I have never had a problem doing it this way and I have done it at least 10 times in the past few years.

My National Reservation is through Delta/Priceline. :cool1:
When I called to tell them I was an Emerald card holder and asked about the additional driver at no extra cost, they told me to go to the counter at TPA to add my wife as an additional driver at no extra cost. :yay:
Good Luck all,
Joe

I've had the same experiences as aquaticmom. I'm the member and add DH just give his license along with my license, emerald card and tag from car at the booth.

it's easy to add spouse onto master rental agreement online. 2nd Driver then won't have to produce license every trip...only the member as ID

You can add your spouse as a free additional driver at the checkout booth - I do it every single time.

I looked for it online but couldn't see where to do it. I may just take our changes at the booth and see what happens. We arrive very early (8:30 am) so if I'm not feeling lucky may go to counter.

Does anyone know if National is exact on the check in time? With Alamo I couldn't checkin the kiosk even 2 minutes early last time or the price increased. The counter staff told me I had to wait until exactly 9 am. (We always arrive on the early flights)

Thanks everyone!!!! The wait is killing us!!!

i've never had it increase...have had decrease when returning car early wherein i was charged for 1 hour vs a whole day (which i think kicks in with them @ 2 hour mark). since you pick car off the lot & then deal w/person in booth you should be okay. If you tie your flight info into the res they are supposed to monitor delays etc.

i've called national before when AT has changed flight times drastically to the point where modifying my existing res online would cause a substantial increase. They were able to make things right for me.

If you're nervous, this is the one time i'd encourage calling them;) the special CS # is listed on the website where you login to your account.:)

I think I'm okay with it at the booth. After everyone's encouraging posts. Enough people have done it and hey if something happens, I gave them the DL at the booth it's up to them to do what's necessary I guess.

Thanks everyone!! Any secrets how to stand the wait until we go ... 5 days and counting every minute!!!

when you signed up for emerald aisle you should've completed a master rental agreement online (including payment info), then mailed a copy for verification (based upon the information you provided) to sign & return.

to determine if you have completed the agreement (where additional drivers are indicated), here's a walk thru to get to the section on their site to find out.

*nationalcar.com

*click emeraldclub in upper right corner

*click profile update

*click personal information, in 1st paragraph where it sez 'click here' in green, do so...

*click master rental agreement. You will find out if you ever completed it or not. If you didn't, now is your time to add additional driver. If you did previously, it will indicate that you have already done so & in order to add the DL# of authorized users you need to call

1-800-962-7070

Of course you can add additional driver's @ the booth in the garage, it just holds up the line for those (who have provided all the personal info previously) hoping to be quickly on their way;). I'd think you could stop in terminal & have it updated too.:)

Thanks! I'm going to that site now to check this out!

Does everyone use codes and coupons when they use emerald Isle mid-size car reservation? :confused3
When I checked the reservations, Emerald Isle mid-size reservations were $390 for the week of 4/17-4/24 against the Delta car reservations, $245 for the same week. I know Delta goes through priceline, but Delta is still a lot cheaper. :surfweb:
Good luck all,
Joe
