National Disney Club Discount

Would it be worth it to join the Disney club for the discount on a 9 day mini van rental. I have heard that besides the initial discount, there is a coupon available, does this coupon apply to minivans? Also, is there any way to save on the $39.95 cost of membership. I know that the Disney Club is ending next year.

The DC coupon does not apply to minivans. You can use it to get some discounts on park passes, but I think if you search the internet, you should be able to find contract#s and coupons open to the general public that will give you better deals than if you joined DC.

I personally have found the DC to be more than worth it on car rentals. Although the coupon is not valid above full size - the contract code still gives the best discounted rate I have found.

As for a discounted DC member ship...You will get a discount if you're an AAA member or AP holder.

No one knows for sure yet if the Disney Club will continue to provide a discount for National after the end of this year. Alamo (owned by the same parent company as is National) will be the official car rental agency of WDW starting next year. From what I have read, Alamo will be targeted at leisure travelers and National at business travelers. I am guessing that any discounts will be from Alamo rather than National, but that is JMHO.

FWIW, I have found Dollar and L&M to offer better minivan rates than National (even using the DC discount). We do tend to go during the off season, so that may be a factor. I've never found any coupon that applies to minivans.

You may want to consider buying an Entertainment book instead of Disney Club. Entertainment has offered several car rental discounts (including National) in past years and you can check out what they will offer in 2003 on their web site. The entertainment book may be a better value for you - especially if you will not use any of the other discounts offered by the Disney Club.
