I checked rates at Alamo and National for a rental beginning either Friday, Oct. 7 or Sat., Oct. 8 - and both were sold out. Thank goodness Avis had availability at good rates. I used an Entertainment contract I.D. and coupon. Only negative is - I'll be dropping off the car at the Hilton at Downtown Disney instead of the Dolphin.

beginning Oct 7, and was able to pull up ressies for both. Maybe it's just the rentals with the Ent discount code that's sold out. I was able to use the Ent coupon, though. What is the Ent contract id? I'd like to see if it will give me a better rate. Thanks!

I got a great rate on my October trip last week when I booked on national. Not the same dates as you guys. Oct. 26-Nov. 6. Paying $181 total for 12 days intermediate price (but have full size because of executive aisle). I got a base weekly rate of $96 (wow never seen it that low before). I used the entertainment coupon 10009123 and the priceless code 6600330. I think the base rate when back up to $114 a week--which isn't too shabby either. Your rates may be higher since it's a holiday week. I just know that last year after the hurricanes we paid a fortunate for a weekly rate, and the price kept going up because they had no cars to rent. I don't plan to get stuck like that again.

I didn't put in any codes for Alamo or National - just logged into Emerald Club and into Alamo. I just tried National and Alamo again for Oct. 7-9, with no codes. National says "no cars available" under "Select Car Class," and Alamo says "Alamo's rate is SOLD OUT, please shop National Car Rental."

The Hilton is VERY close to DTD. You can just walk over there and get a bus back.

Thanks, Carol. I'll probably shop and or eat at DD...as long as I'm there!

Looks like another busy Colombus weekend in WDW this year. A repeat from last year. I just had a co-worker ask me if October was a good time to go to WDW and I said yes, but then I turned and said as long as you avoid Colombus Day weekend....she didn't like that answer, because that's what she was thinking of!

As of right now, I plan to arrive in Orlando Friday, Oct. 7th, but visit my mom in Cocoa the first 2 days. My reservation at the Swan starts on the 9th.

I just plugged in the dates Oct. 7 - 16 using Priceless and the Ent. coupon and came back with the rate of $150. (National)

It looks like National is blocking weekend rentals only. I've been trying to book Oct 7-10 since begining of January and no luck.

Tried again just now, and no cars.

I then tried Oct 7-14 and was able to get a car.

That's kind of what I figured. Good thing for me that Avis still has cars for that weekend. Since I'm an Avis Preferred member, I can bypass the line at the airport counter and go right to the parking garage. :)
