So, lets face it..I almost NEVER leave the dis-cruise line forum, but I just had to tonight to ask a very important question! Has anyone had or heard of someone recently having a bad stomach bug causing chills, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, etc etc...I could go on, but I am making myself feel gross all over again! :worship: I had heard of people having it a few weeks ago, and Friday, BAM! It hit me like a ton of bricks and I cant seem to shake it! Usually in the past, I have been able to get through it within a couple days at most, but this doesn't seem like it has an end it sight! :confused3

Not recently, but I had some type of nasty stomach bug back in October. For me, it lasted for about 2 weeks but most illnesses last much longer with me because of my other illnesses.

I lost 15lbs in 2 weeks which I have not gained back. Since that stomach bug, I have been having some lingering stomach problems. I have been on zofran (anti-nausea med) since october. We think I just have some lingering inflamation from that stomach bug. I also had a fever for 2 weeks along with just generally feeling really crappy.

I hope yours doesnt end up like what I had!!! I wouldnt wish that on anyone!

They had to close a whole school here recently because of a bad outbreak of the noravirus (?) that people were taking a long time to get better from.

Twice!

The first time, about 3-4 weeks ago, my daughter and I both got violently ill within an hour of each other. Never figured out if it was food related or a virus. It lasted a couple of days.

Then last Wednesday I got hit around 3 am with projective vomiting & diarrhea. Just miserable. I almost passed out from it, then got dehydrated and started getting mentally confused. I probably should have gone to urgent care, but I just couldn't even think or put two and two together. I haven't been right since. Pounding headaches, massive fatigue, weakness.

I hope everyone recovers okay!

I have known several people with this over the past 3 weeks. I'm betting that noravirus is having a little field day right now.

Everyone I know who had it was over the worst symptoms in 24 hours (vomiting/diarrhea/etc) but probably felt bad for 3 days.

We had the confirmed Rotavirus go through our house about three weeks ago.

Started with chills, aches, then onto violent vomitting for about 12 hours in average adult and then diarrhea for another few days. It was horrible.

My 10 month old ended up in the ER for a day dehydrated because nothing was staying down or in for more than 5 minutes at a time. They tested his diaper and confirmed Rotavirus.

My DH had it bad ... Saturday until Tuesday. My ODS (3.5) was less than 24 hours but he had the vaccine as a baby. My mom (who came to help me when both boys got sick) was about 36 hours and I fought it all week until it took me down Friday night but I was good by Saturday afternoon. My LO had it for almost two weeks, two RX's of Zofran and a case of diapers later he was finally getting back to normal.

Good Luck. I don't wish that on anyone. I hope you feel better very soon.

I got sick on Martin Luther King Jr Day. I was on a field trip with my DD9's Brownie troop. I had to run to the bathroom and got violently ill. I called my DH crying my eyes out I was in so much pain. It came on so fast and was just awful. Unfortunatly my other registered adult was at home with a sick kid so I had to stay. Anyway, it lasted 3 weeks. I wound up in the ER for fluids cause I did not eat or drink a drop of anything for 19 solid days, If I did it came right out. (sorry) I probably should have gone back for fluids again but with a $150 copay, I refused. Anyway, after 19 days I was able to eat popcicles andstart the BRAT diet, and after another 4 days was able to start eating small amounts of other things again. My stomach is still a little skiddish, but overall I am over it now. I lost about 15 pounds.

My best friend had the nasty bug last week. She was throwing up every morning, couldn't eat, had a fever. It was bad.

Yep, my ds14 and I had a horrible stomach virus a little over a week ago. Everyone around us went to the ER with it, but we somehow survived it. I lost 8lbs in two days. I have not yet made a full recovery. I still can not stand the smell or look of some foods, and I do not have all of my energy back. My ds has made a full recovery though. He was able to bounce back quickly - within three days.

My dh, dd11, and ds9 all came down with fevers and sore throats at the same time my ds14 and I had the stomach virus. I have been waiting to see if we are going to trade illnesses but so far, we have managed to stay well.

Rotavirus is the absolute worst (nora is nothing compared to rota). OP, if and when your child gets this (if it's rota), make sure to keep him hydrated, but not over hydrated - no food or milk, about a teaspoon of liquid every 15 minutes. It's very easy for a baby/toddler/child to get dehydrated with this virus, which can easily last over a week, up to two weeks. I can now diagnose a baby just by the smell of the diaper - it's :scared1:

Thanks everyone for your posts! I am on weight watchers but this is not the way I intended to lose some weight! I am truly scared to eat or drink anything because as soon as it hits my stomach I hear my stomach start churning...And it would be no more then 3-10 minutes before its making it's way out some place or another (SORRY!)..Any who, hope I get this this fast! My husband is in Law Enforcement and really cant take off himself so I am PRAYING he does not get this! He wont even sleep next to me right now! LOL

Been there, done that. It can take a looong time to get over it. Just keep hydrated and hang in there. The most recent time I got it, no one else in the house did, thank goodness. I caught it once at WDW and so did half our party. :sad2:

Ugggg, been there. So, so sorry it's happening to you.

My son is on a business trip to AZ and he got sick two days ago with the same symptoms. He's slowly getting better, but he still has a little ways to go. Sounds like a typical virus.
