I won't say much about it on a family website, but have you seen POFQ on the news? Do a quick search check news sites.

I've put in a few different search terms at Yahoo News...nothing. :confused3

I don't even know what to say. I hope they find that girl soon and catch the...I don't even know if I know an appropriate name for the person doing this that I can say on this board. I'm stunned.

I wonder if the child was brought there by the predator ....or if the predator preyed upon a girl innocently vacationing with her family, OMG. :(:(

I'm afraid I skimmed the article, but it seems either they know very little or don't know anything about the identity of this child and so the circumstances surrounding the incident. It's so sick.

ETA: Went to the bottom of that art. , seems the same child was spotted as early as 3 yrs ago in such images when she was NINE. Images were culled from various Toronto suspects. I hope they find her soon.

That is unbelievably the most horrible thing I've read concerning Disney. Maybe it will cause some consideration in having surveillance monitors at public areas in the parks/resorts...I would not oppose it. My heart goes out to that little girl and I pray they find her perpetrator quickly enough to prevent this from happening again.

I only wish I could say, "How could this happen?" It makes me want to cry.

Tara

I can't wrap my mind around this. Too cruel for words. All I can do is pray. I will never see the PORQ the same way the I used to. I think my whole world view has changed.

That was a poorly done article. It looks and reads like a tabloid article. It's distasteful that they focus on the "Disney hotel" (c'mon...RESORT) and not at the alleged perps. Who cares what the front desk clerk says? And of course they are going to splash the Disney name everywhere because of what it is connected with. Would this be such a big deal if it was committed at another huge hotel? Probably not and the pain of the crime would still be the same. I don't get why they'd print an article if you have little actual in depth info to report on other than slandering Disney...well, yes I get it but think it is very poor journalism.

Yes, it was a skimpy article, with very little information. A true investigative journalist would've waited 'til there was something more concrete to report.

The only reason POFQ was highlighted was that since it has so identifiable an hotel interior, it provided a break in the case. They can now check records, etc. Had they been to a Holiday Inn, far fewer clues are available in that sort of place. But yes, the end of the article was trashy, as if WDW could have done something in identifying and stopping this crime.(maybe-maybe not)

I find it odd, that no U.S. creditable paper or news station even broke this story. I mean when Tigger was accused of touch someone it made national news in America, and the woman's story found to be made up. BUT now the Toronto Sun which to me looks like a Tabloid news paper, much like the "SUN" that is sold in America broke this story. Though Not saying it is not possible for something like this to happen as there are sickos who are out there. This particular story just does not seem like the real think. I mean something this BIG even Disney could not cover from the American Journalist who represent America's creditable papers and news agencies. Thats my opinion on this article.

I agree.

This doesn't change my view of POFQ or Disney resorts. Unfortunately, this type of thing probably happens in motels/hotels everywhere, and sadly in the victim's own home. It's only because of the hotel's theming that people were able to recognize the rooms/hotel grounds.

To me, this is exploiting/sensationalizing the Disney name and taking attention from the cruel crime itself. Now, if they can somehow figure out who rented the rooms pictured, that would be a good thing. But I can't fathom how they'd do this.

I hope the police catch this criminal so he doesn't hurt any other kids.

I agree with Tron - wouldn't this be splashed all over the news worldwide? IT really does look like a tabloid attempted to sensationalize.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE story! :sad2:

I'm not sure why the journalist had to emphasize the resort, however. This can happen anywhere. I guess the Disney "name" is always a target though. I don't care for how the journalist ended the article by quoting that the CM said "Have a Magical Evening"? The incident alone should have been the target of the article, not the resort and it's response.

For the benefit of those not in the TO area, the Sun is a tabloid. It's gone so low as to display dead bodies on its front page. If it's shrieking over this, it's just par for the course.

As I said on the Canadian board, there's probably no hotel that hasn't had its share of heinous acts. The difference here is that the police had evidence of a crime, and were hoping identifying the crime scene would help identify the victim so they could rescue her.

I'm starting to think we should start a fund to send police officers to Disney World, because it's odd no one on the force recognized the place.

I'm not going to blame the resort for this. Let's keep the blame squarely where it belongs: on the shoulders of the skidmark who did it.

Cordially,
Morticia.

It has been on the news here in Orlando. Disney is working with the Canadian police.

Here's a more credible news source than the Sun:

http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2005/02/04/police-toronto050204.html

I saw the CBC story yesterday morning, and thought to myself, "that's a WDW hotel, I know it is!" And I never stayed at POFQ until after renovation, and only stayed at POR one other time, so it just goes to show you how "signature" Disney's look and feel is. It wasn't until I saw a thread on the Canadians forum that I heard it was the FQ. Someone there said there'd been something in the Orlando Sentinel too, but I couldn't find it.

The Sun will sensationalize, no doubt. The whole thing is stomach-turning.

I'm with ya on that.

From personal experience the security at POFQ leaves a lot to be desired.
