Nassua Port Day: Do we have to get off for the entire time?

First time cruising! We are only doing a 3-night cruise. We would like to get off and see Nassua, but not sure we want to spend the entire day there (9:30am guests ashore, 5:15pm guests aboard), especially since it's such a short cruise and we want to enjoy the ship. Can we choose to go ashore later (like after lunch) so we can relax on the ship? Or go early and return at 1-2pm to hang out on the ship?

Also, should we plan to bring our own snorkeling gear for Castaway Key?

Thank you!

The only time they can make you leave the ship is on disembarkation day. In every other port you can stay on board if you like. A lot of people will do so in Nassau.

For Castaway Cay, you can rent the entire kit - mask, snorkel and fins - or just the fins for half the price. We usually rent the fins and bring the rest. The kits are sanitized between use, of course. They have kid and adult sizes, more than enough so you do not need to book them in advance. I recommend not doing so, in case you do not feel like snorkeling on your CC day. They do not refund unused kits.
