Hi. While in Nassau my husband & I were thinking of going to the pirate museum. Or is it more for kids?

I would also like to find out about this. My DS10 would like this if it is a kid thing. Anyone ever do this? How much is it and do you pre reserve this kind of thing? Thanks for the info:wave2:

DH and I went 4 or 5 years ago. We arranged thru the ship, but you could have just walked up. We enjoyed it. It's not really hi-tech or anything, but we found the info on pirates pretty interesting. I plan to take DS, 2, in a few years. I'd certainly go again. I don't recall it being very expensive, and it certainly gets you in the island spirit of things. Ahoy, maties!

I'm really bummed I missed this when I was there last month. Well, looks like I'm just gonna have to go back!

Our whole group enjoyed it last March (ages 6 - 60!) It was an easy walk from the port.

Its a lot of diaoramas of pirates with pirate history. Our 4 and 5 year old enjoyed it, but were a little young (they didn't want to sit still while we read). I would think adults might find it interesting, depending on the adult (I wish I could have read everything rather than following my kids through).

We went to the Pirate Museum in November 2000. My husband absolutely loves history and felt it was probably one of the finest museums of its kind. I will let him expound in his own words:

"Upon entering the museum you are suddenly at a Nassau wharf circa the mid - 1700s. Take your time walking through for you'll be surrounded by all the sights and sounds of an 18th Century seaport - even the mystyerious whispers of pirates a-plotting who knows what mischief. Once past the seaport exhibit you'll enter hallways where there will be various tableaus of famous pirate scenes, many of them reminisant to the great paintings of American illustrator Howard Pyle. Beware of some pirate statues for you'll question if maybe they grinned at you. My very favorite is the tableau - "The One That Got Away". The pirate was so real you had to wonder if he wasn't an actor about to startle the life out of you with a, "Hello Matey"! Then again - was he? I am a huge critic of wax figures - the Pirate Museum posssesed the best I've ever seen!"

It was his and my DD's very favorite shore excursion!
