Traveling overnight on a cruise you never know what you'll see when you wake up in the morning and look out your window. Well, what to my wondering eyes should appear when we woke up on December 21 in Nassau, opened the curtain and saw this!!!

We were on a last minute - great deal - out of NYC - cruise on the Norwegian Breakaway. What a surprise it was to wake up and see the Disney Magic next to us. I still can't decide if it was the best view ever or the worst view.

I have to say I envy people a little who are on other ships. They get to see the stylish Disney ships, while I have to look at their floating milk cartons. But then I remember I have a sweet horn that plays tunes, Mickey Mouse, and well everything else that made me select Disney instead of someone else. I know fully well that other cruises I will be sailing someone else and that's fine too. The thing to remember no matter the ship, you are on vacation, so no having to cook meals!

What a great perspective -- envying people who get to LOOK at a Disney ship! I love it.

I kept reminding myself how cheap our last minute fare was, and we live in New York State so no airfare or hotel the night before. But . . I did sit on my balcony and watch the Magic sail out of port. Ahhhhhhh

I remember several years ago getting off the Dream in Nassau. We were walking into town to shop when the kids stopped to admire the Caribbean blue water. Floating near the pier was a big, brown turd. Like human big.

I looked at my family and said, "That's it! Nassau in a nutshell!"

That was one of the worst views I've had in Nassau.

Ugh! You win.

Different POV...and still great IMO...

The one or two times we've been on a "milk carton" and saw a Disney ship, we felt nothing but sadness for them because they had spent so much money and were on a nearly black-colored ship without the bright awesomeness inside that my ship had. :) And I sort of laughed once (during muster) because I knew they were feeling bad for us, when I was ecstatic for us and not missing Dream at all. In fact after we had Freedom booked but had another 4 nighter on Dream (for more per night than the 7 night Freedom) and embarkation day for Dream we had to see OUR ship, Freedom, while heading to Dream, and we were so sad. We try to not wish time away, but we kinda did that day!

Having a computer that makes a horn noise to the tune of "dream is a wish" isn't any sort of big deal to me. I'd rather take 2-3 cruises for the cost of 1 DCL experience, and LOVE my bright and beautiful surroundings on a crisp-looking white ship, thanks. :)

That's sort of the why go have a nice steak dinner at a Ruths Chris when we could go eat at McDonalds ten times for the same money, approach. Please try to get a lot of people to buy into that, maybe you can help reduce demand.

I dunno. I've sailed other lines. Had steaks just as good if not better. Much better entertainment, for sure. And felt great knowing I didn't overpay for a brand.

I think a more accurate analogy would be equating Ruth Chris to Norwegian cruise lines. They are both very good at a reasonable price. Sure you can go to a high end steak place and get a better meal but it is not worth paying twice as much. I would rather go to Ruth Chris.

We're headed to the Panama Canal on Princess in a coupe weeks and I think these two cruises equal a week with Disney. I still love Disney and will sail with them again, but I like being frugal, too.

Good point. How nice that there are options for everyone, and humbling to think that many, many can't even afford McDonald's.

And, I know my husband missed the free soda.

Okay, now I'm thinking about Ruth's Chris. When my son lived in NYC he went a couple times. We live 150 miles north of NYC but still see their ads occasionally on TV. I was going to add that with the money we saved we could now afford steak, but that's not really accurate. We didn't weigh Disney vs. Norwegian and choose Norwegian. We got an email from Norwegian and planned a spur of the moment trip because we're already tired of the cold!

I'm not a soda drinker so I never get anything out of "free" soda. I do, however, absolutely loathe and detest the fact that Disney now limits the amount of alcohol carried onboard while they STILL haven't offered an all-inclusive adult beverage package. Offer it and I will gladly hand over the moolah. The lame excuses for beer & wine "packages" Disney offers are nothing more than a way for them to bundle & obscenely mark-up beer & wine. And the selection of both really is not good. Offer me cocktails, some decent choices in a package. Throw in bottled water & specialty coffees. Help a girl out, Disney!

I wasn't docked next to the Fantasy, but was at a different dock in Cozumel the same day was on the Norwegian Pearl and it was awesome getting to see the ship and being on another line

Sometimes I get very dismayed with Disney's "money grabbing" and questionable policies. I own Disney stock so I try to tell myself it's a good thing, but I'd rather have more money in my pocket and less in Disney's.

One of our ports was Port Canaveral and we we docked right next to the Disney terminal -- no ships. They actually had (very short) excursions to WDW!

Fellow shareholder here. ;) Yes, when I see people losing their minds over Frozen or whatever the over-saturated over-hyped nauseating thing is, I just tell myself to let all those people buy into all the things. It's helping our portfolio. Definitely helps to have that perspective.

I honestly have to say I'm a bit confused at the point of this thread. Is it; 'oh look at the Disney ship, it's a nice looking ship and happy to see it', or 'I'm so happy I'm on a different ship, screw you Disney' ?

I took it as "best" view because the ship looks awesome, in the OP's opinion. "Worst" view because the OP isn't on it.

I've been to WDW for too many cold and wet Februarys (still haven't learned my lesson) and the only way I've survived is walking through the gift shops willing people to buy, buy, buy!) :o

VERY happy to see it. It brings many fond memories!
