NASH-anyone been treated for this?

My doctor mailed me my lab and ultrasound results advising that I have cholecystitis and NASH(fatty liver disease). I am terrified and what I read on the net is scaring me even more.I cant believe he mailed them instead of calling me.Now I have to wait all weekend to reach him. Has anyone sucessfully been treated or survived this diagnosis?

I have not, nor do I know anyone who has. I just wanted to say that DH was diagnosed with a heart condition, and I researched it on the internet and found plenty to scare the crap out of me! Reality turned out not to be so dire, thankfully.

Use your research to compile a list of questions to ask your doctor. Call for an appointment as soon as you can so that you don't waste time stewing over it thinking the worst (like I did!) I'm all for being well-informed and educating ourselves to be a partner in our own healthcare, but sometimes the internet information is worst-case info only.

I was diagnosed over a year ago and the good news is that the liver is actually capable of healing itself. However, that involves making some big commitments like no alcohol, no meds like Tylenol and many many others, weight loss in some cases. Don't be afraid. I think it's fairly common and there are many people who can empathize.
