The 16th race of the 36 race season takes us to Sonoma, California and the Toyota/Save Mart 350.
The race will be held at the Infineon Raceway, a 10 turn track (left AND right hand turns!!). The track has a lap distance of 1.99 miles per lap and will run 110 laps for a total race distance of miles.
Qualifying is Friday, June 19th so PLEASE make your picks before qualifying starts.
#24 J Gordon has the most wins here since 1975 with a grand total of 5.
Other history:
In 6/08, #9 K Kahne led the start of the race and #18 Kyle Busch led at the end.
In 6/07, the #26 car of J McMurray won the pole in a race won by #42 Juan Pablo Montoya.
In 6/06, #2 Kurt Busch turned in the fastest qulaifying time and the checkered flag went home with #24 J Gordon.
In 6/05, #24 J Gordon was behind the pace car but the then #20, now #14 car of T Stewart was in Victory Lane.

My Sonoma picks are:
1. J Gordon <~~~ I'm not hesitant picking #24 at all....okay...maybe a little hesitant...but...he's officially picked by me now....
2. J Johnson <~~~ I'll lend him a buck or two for gas if he needs it....
3. Kyle Busch <~~~ As was said in the movie "Major League"...."I got a hunch he's due Pedderick!"
4. My Boy D Hamlin!! <~~~ Boogity boogity
5. K Harvick <~~~ My guts said "Pick him....pick the #29 car!" My typing finger said okay....woe is me?
My spare will be....uhmmmm.....J Burton! I didn't consider him at all this week....
unlike last week....when I ALMOST picked G Biffle...woe is me!

And now....since I have your attention....I'm mulling over a second half "make-up" plan....
similar in nature to what we do with the All Star Sprint....either used as a make up for a week missed....OR....to replace a terrible score...
It seems we have a fair number of pickers with defaults used up....plus upcoming summer vacations...etcetera...
I'm thinking that since we have the All Star during the 1st half of the season....it might be good to have
something during the secnd half as well...
I'm still workng the bugs out in my head....
Not that I have a buggy head mind you....
