Count me in!! Haven't hung out on the Nascar threads very much, but race fans are race fans, and DIS'ers are DIS'ers... and I am BOTH!!!

It would be the greatest if all of our NASCAR buddies could join us for 1 big racefest !! :drinking1

NC Beast and I are going to be in WDW next week (2/11-17). We are leaving before the Daytona.

Muushka---there's still room in the car.

Oh man NC Belle....wish I could have you pick me up after picking up Muushka :)

Hey Muushka we need to have a mini DIS Meet to watch a race. I know very FEW people in Cary that watch Nascar ;)

Sure--we have to drop the dog at the kennel and be in Cary in 10 minutes after that...

LOL not in Cary. Don't get me wrong..I love living here, but some of the people can be real snobs. Some of the folks here took the letters in Cary and came up with the name "Containment Area for Relocated Yankees".

You are at the wrong end of 64. Everytime that go into town, I see at least 5 #3 fan stickers and about same for #24 and #8.:sunny:

Sounds good to me!

Would you believe I have a neice in RI (of all places) that has been a NASCAR fan for the past almost 20 years! Talk about a rare breed :teeth: .
In fact, I think she will be joining our group for the weekly races.

Yup, a race-meet would be fun

I AM a Relocated Yankee!!! Until last year, I lived 15 minutes from New Hampshire Intl Speedway... now I live 5 minutes from Daytona Intl Speedway... how's THAT for relocation! (And DH works there, to boot!!)

Cool!! An NC Nascar Meet!

Your neice is a rare breed indeed :)

Me too! My two favorite things are WDW and racing. I love NASCAR even though my heart belongs in open wheel racing (Champ Car/IRL). A couple years back I worked for some auto racing websites as a writer/reporter and if I had discovered that career before I was married and had children I would have stayed in it for life. There's nothing like being in pit lane in the morning (anytime really) when they crank the engines and pull out or being right there when they come in for a pitstop and seeing the crew go into action. We took friends to a race once and it was CART (champ car) and it was morning practice and the smell of methanol (the fuel they use in those cars which has a distinct smell to it) was in the air and I said, "Smell that? There's nothing like the smell of methanol in the morning." My dh explained to them that to me it was like how coffee smells to others in the morning. :rotfl: I'm excited there are race fans here on DIS because I love it here. You never know where you'll find a race fan. There is the sweetest little petite lady who is the librarian at the elementary school here and she and the school secretary are NASCAR fans and so when I covered media day at TMS I brought them some p.r. packages I picked up for them. The librarian is a Mark Martin fan and he was there that day and so I got lots of things on him and took lots of pictures and she almost did cartwheels when I gave her what I brought back. It was so funny to see this mild mannered lady act like a teenager over Mark Martin photos! LOL. I am a JR. fan, dh is a Jeff Gordon fan, but someone who I like and pick as a dark horse this year...Jeremy Mayfield. With the additions to his team, working for Ray E.,.....I think if he can get rid of the bad luck that seems to follow him as well as stay away from Robbie Gordon on the track :crazy2: he's going to be a contender.

I took my mother (age 66) to her first NASCAR race for the Pepsi 400 last year... she LOVED it- can't wait to go back!

Mark Martin lives right near me... (near enough that I can smell the jet fuel when his Lear takes off)... he is a good guy- his son used to play Pop Warner football on the team that my DD cheers for, but at the ripe old age of... what is it... 10, he's committed himself to full time truck racing.

I am a Jr. fan, too... working for his primary sponsor contributes to my love of #8, however, I was a fan before I worked here... it took awhile for my DS to realize that I don't work WITH Jr...

We do our part. :drinking1 No Miller for us. In fact, a driver who we know and love drove the Miller Lite car in the Indy 500 a couple years ago so we bought a 12 pack of Miller Lite that weekend. Ended up serving it to guests. I could barely drink it.

Friends don't let friends drink Miller Lite!
