I just love reading "Power Rankings" at NASCAR.com each week - the humor is great. This week they wrote the following about Jimmie Johnson (sorry Stewart fans):

He said at Chicagoland that he hasn’t had any problems racing with Tony Stewart this year. Mainly it’s because he’s been ahead of him 95 percent of the time

Although they redeem themselves (about Stewart) with this little blurb on Vickers:

He led Indianapolis testing last week. Which means when Tony Stewart touched him, Vickers learned how to drive the Brickyard through osmosis

I try not to but you have to admit it's pretty hard not to include drivers such as Johnson, Jr, Gordon and Stewart. Newman gets in there a lot too. This week I did try to include drivers that everyone else doesn't always pick. I may go back to last year's strategy and pick one underdog. I started doing that this year and I swear every time I picked a Blaney or a Nemecheck they crashed - I felt like a jinx so I stopped ;) Problem is I want to win at least one week of my own game....19 races so far this year and I think the closest I got was top 3 - it's kind of embarassing.

Here's my picks:

#8 Jr.
#48 Johnson
#12 Newman
#88 Jarett
#20 Stewart

Spare: #15 Waltrip

Good Luck Everyone!!

Qualifying day Bump Draft back to page 1

Adam aka Big Dude

Just finished watching the DEI news conference. Anyone else see it? Jr. will not qualify for the race. He is going to start the race, then get out at the first caution. Martin Truex will qualify, then finish the race for him.

With Jr not being able to qualify...will that affect his points? Tony Sr. said when the did the math for Jr to not even race this weekend, if he didn't start he would be 242 points away from Ryan Newman, which is in 10th place. Sounds like he sort of has to start anyway.

Here's to Dale's speedy recovery!!!:D

I saw on Jayski.com last night that DEI was making an important announcement today - didn't even occur to me that it might be that. I missed it though (sleep being more important this morning). As long as Jr starts the race he will earn the points for that race. Doesn't even matter who qualifies the car. How many points will of course depend on Truex but heck, if you have to have a sub - he's the man (4 wins in Busch in his first (this) year). 242 points is a lot, so Tony Sr is worried about nothing IMO but then I really don't like Tony Sr. As long as Jr remains in the top 10 he will compete and I just don't see him losing that many points in 8 races.

We have a decision to make - do the folks who picked Jr want me to just subsititute Truex (it will afterall still be the 8 car) or do you want to use your spare - your call - just let me know by posting here (before the race ;))

Reminder qualifying is at 3PM today on TNT.

Did forget to mention that with Truex qualifying but JR starting the 8 car regardless of where they qualify today will start at the back of the pack - it's a rule.
