Hi ,

It's really all in the title! Not sure what to have:confused: I love lobster .
What sides do these come with?

Any photos? What did u enjoy?

Not sure if it makes a difference but I'm on ddp !

Any help really appreciated.

Thanks

I'm sure someone will chime in with the facts, and I can't remember the answer - but one is typically reviewed as very good and one as not good & rubbery. So there definitely is a difference between whether you get the whole lobster or just the tail.

I honestly don't remember which I had when we were there a few years ago, but I thought it was only fair.

Most of the reviews I've read said that the surf and turf lobster tail was a non-descript frozen one, and the whole lobster is supposed to be fresh/er?
I had the whole lobster and was deeply happy!
Also, I thought I could get steak at the other restaurants
just my thinking

I got the whole lobster when we ate there last July, and it was so good. It came with some kind of pasta dish and steamed asparagus.

Ok so we should get the whole lobster?
I was thinking about this too, and I think I will be getting the whole Lobster cause, i will eat steak at so many other places, so maybe it would be good just to go completely lobster!

I'm a New Englander so let me chime in with MHO. The lobster at Narcoosee's is a basic boiled lobster I always find that to get my fill you must have two, that said I would go with the surf and turf.

FYI the best lobster I had in WDW was at Futon's, the baked stuffed loster Narragansett is great.

I got the whole lobster at Narcoosee's and it was great. I had heard both positive and negative reviews, but I knew I was going to get it regardless.

It's a steamed lobster, so nothing out of the ordinary. We must have got it on a good night, because I thought it was fantastic. My DH got the surf and turf and loved it. :thumbsup2 Both were on the dining plan.

we both had the surf and turf in may 2010--we vowed never to go back. it just wasn't good enough for signature status--we had better surf and turf at the outback steakhouse. however with recent reviews of the whole lobster, we are trying it again this coming november!

DH had the surf and turf in Nov and while he enjoyed the tail he said the filet was terrible

FYI - I found Narcoossee's to be very accommodating in terms of substituting sides, so I don't really think that should be a factor in your decision.

Thank you - thats good to know as dh loves lobster but does not like pasta - it would be good to get potaotes instead;)

Wow, i think I made up my mind to get the whole lobster! LOL
Thanks everyone, I still have 31 days til trip time, but when I come back I will share some pictures and all!

I had the surf and turf August of 2010. The steak was mediocre, it was good, not great. The lobster was...tough and "chewy." The potatoes - mmm the potatoes! They were the best part of the meal, although hard to describe, they were like whipped, and crusted on the top, as if they were put pretty on the plate, and thrown into the oven to get a golden crust. They were mashed with parsley, and maybe garlic? I don't remember the exact flavorings, but they were good! Served with two (undercooked for my likings) asparagus. Can someone tell me how to upload pics on here please?? I have a photo of the surf and turf!

When I went in December, I had the steamed lobster and my Dad had the surf and turf. Both were excellent. The lobster was very tender and tasty. We were both on the DDP and both dishes seemed like a good value on the DDP.

I was disappointed in the surf and turf. The steak had chewy onions on top of it, and the lobster wasn't anything special. It was served with broccolini and very dry potatoes. I agree with whoever said they've had better surf and turf at Outback (for $25-30 less).

That said, I really liked the crab crusted flounder at Narcoossee's (I liked it more than any entree I've had at Flying Fish). And I want to try the Narcoossee's whole lobster next time, since the whole lobster isn't frozen.

Ok after looking at those photos I think the whole lobster might be the way to go

Many thanks

For those that are looking for a Surf and Turf option but do not necessarily like or want lobster...

I had read on the DIS about someone asking for shrimp instead of the lobster tail (which I had heard was pretty chewy). The said they could substitute grilled shrimp for the tail. That was the best decision I could have made. There were 8 huge mesquite grilled shrimp along with my filet and side dishes. We were on the deluxe plan so I was really stuffed but it was so good. Great use of our DDP 2 credits as my meal was $120 (crab cake appetizer, surf and turf, dessert and one glass of wine).

My vote is for the whole lobster. Had it there in March and it was DELICIOUS! The whole lobster is a Maine Lobster. From memory, the surf and turf comes with lobster tail which is not a regular Maine lobster--caribbean lobster or something. not as good as maine lobster.

Whole lobster for the win! :worship:

We ate there last September for the first time, and really enjoyed the surf & turf. Looking forward to eating there again this September. The almond crusted Cheesecake was a great desert.
